Electronica in a Bag - Ready for the Trip

By
Real Estate Agent with eXp Realty of California, Inc. CA DRE #01490977

I've learned over the years to be prepared for traveling with all my electronic gadgets.

Electronica in a bagHaving left behind chargers for my phone, the battery charger for my laptop (that was expensive to replace while traveling) and other things, I have taken to putting all my power cords and such in a plastic bag to keep stuff in one spot, but also remind me of what to pack :

batteries for my Flip

laptop power cord

bluetooith charger

power cords for my cell phone and camera

USB cable to downloand digital photos

camera and Flip

It seems to work well as I have not left anything behind these last few trips. Now I'm ready to go.

Jeff I have forgotten these things way to often, so now I keep duplicates of all my power cords, and a spare battery for my cell phone with me all the time either in my brief case or my car which ever is most appropriate.

It is a bummer to forget a power cord isn't it??    I have duplicates of some of my gadgets as well!  And a checklist for when I travel!   has saved me more than once!  LOL

Have a great trip!

Nice reminder.  We need all the help we can get....I hate buying duplicates of stuff I already own.

It's funny because I've done the exact same thing on more than one occasion (even lost the replacement charger during a trip).  Luckily, if you stay at a hotel on your travels they often have a large supply of chargers, batteries, etc. from their lost/found they can let you borrow.

Jeff - It looks like everyone that travels has that same problem. I know I do to but I didn't want to be like everyone else here. Too late.

Jeff,  We may have a solution for you.  I used to do a LOT of business travel, but not so much now.  But, there's a system you can buy (runs about $200 or so) that consolidates most of this into a smaller pouch.  You buy the tip you need for your laptop, another that fits your phone, etc.  Really came in handy!

www.igo.com is the place that has the info and the systems.

Jeff - For once being lazy actually has been a benefit for me.  I rarely clean out my computer travel bag so the stuff is always in there!

GREAT plan!  There is nothing worse than talking your phone dead early in the day and realizing you forgot your charger or going on a business trip and realizing you forgot your lap top plug in..... and spending 3 hours running around getting an extra one!

Jeff ... Great idea to put your tools and gadgets with cords and USB cables in a plastic bag for travel. I do that but end up with 2 or 3 different bags, which recreates the same original challenge of locating all the stuff when needed.

Jeff this sounds like a great idea.  It is a pain trying to replace one of these gadget if left  behind.

I LOVE this and also employ the ever ready, dependable and sturdy Zip-Lock instead of paying for some fancy-schmancy designer bag!

It's crazy how many electronic gadgets we take on trips. When we went to Mexico (family of 5), we took, 2 computers, 1 iPad, 3 iPhones, 1 cell phone, 2 cameras, 1 iTouch, 1 iPod and a partidge in a pear tree. I'm almost embarrassed to admit that we took all that stuff--especially the thing about the partridge.

Edward and Celia - you're welcome

George - I should do the same. Maybe triplicates? Car, briefcase and extra?

Deborah - the laptop power cord was the worst. Fortunately I was able to get what I needed at Radio Shack to get me thru the 5 day trip.

Don - the system works for me now that I am used the the routine

Anita - good to know. I have left behind my mouse before as well. Not such a big deal except I hate the thiunmb pad

The UBS cord is what I routinely forget to pack. And my souvenir from NYC once was a cell phone charger!

Hi Jeff, Traveling and what we need to take with us is always a concern. When I was traveling a lot, I had a pre-printed full check list of everything I needed, including clothing. I selected and identified the needed wardrobe for each day, dress and casual. It prevented over packing. I also did as you did and what I found useful was having a second set of all the power cords and chargers which were always ready and pre-packed for a trip. Each was labeled. It made traveling and the chore of trying to remember so much easier.
