Moved to Lakes Region, New Hampshire, which broker to choose?

Lakes Region, NH

I have moved to Lakes Region, New Hampshire from Loudoun County, Virginia and have been very busy with getting my New Hampshire Real Estate License and affilliating with a broker.  We settled back in Meredith, which is probably, in my humble opinion, one of the most beautiful towns on Lake Winnipesaukee.  This has been a very exhausting way to spend the month of July.  But, it has also given me a good remider of what people go through when they move their families to a new location. Good to have fresh in my mind as an agent working with clients!

The Lakes Region is actually our home, so we are returning after a few years away, but none the less, moving is a major project and I don't like doing it.  It puts into perspective the issues that our clients go through when they come to us for help.

One important issue is, what broker do I use to help me with my moving project?  As I make this move, I am saying "What broker do I want to affiliate with?" Having come from the Mid-Atlantic region and been with Long and Foster, I had to make a change because L&F is not in New Hampshire.  So, having the classes and passing the exam behind me, I am working through the decision process of where to hang my license and call my new "home".  This is a very important decision to me so I have been laboring over it.

There are many good companies with a presence here, Caldwell Banker, ReMax, Century 21, Keller WIlliams is about 40 miles south of here, but then there are several independant offices that have good market share as well.  Which broker do I choose and why?  I have one last interview today and then I will choose.  I want to be in the office working next week, losing the month of July was bad enough, I am anxious to get to work building my new real estate business in New Hampshire.

I'll keep you posted on where I am by the end of the week.  In the mean time, if your moving to the Lakes Region, New Hampshire and wonder which broker to choose, touch base with me and we can talk about it.

I'll be located at www.LakesRegionNHHomes.com very soon, I'll let you know when we're live.

Till next time...enjoy the beautiful weather!

Thanks for the input and the warm welcome Ross.  I have made the move to Coldwell Bankers as of yesterday.  I have heard good things about Verani, but was looking for an office that was close to home here in the Lakes Region.  Looking forward to maybe crossing paths with you somewhere along the line, sounds like you've been at this a while....And Yes, I can certainly see the value in the AR community.  thanks-

I just returned to Palm Beach, Florida from the Lakes region yesterday.  It was my 1st trip to New Hampshire and I loved it.

Do you happen to know which states have reciprocity with N.H.?

Marsha,

When I moved up from Virginia, I had to start all over again. You are likely going to have to do the same if you relocate from Florida.   Here is some info I grabbed off one of the testing websites:

New Hampshire Real Estate Exam Currently, the New Hampshire real estate exams are provided by Applied Measurement Professionals. New Hampshire real estate exam is administered via computer in one of their four different testing centers, Concord, Nashua, Manchester and Portsmouth. At the time of writing, the exam fee is $100. You can visit the Commission website for an exam registration form, click here. You will need to mail your registration along with your fee to the Commission. Their address is: NH Real Estate Commission 25 Capitol Street, Rm 434 Concord, NH 03301 New Hampshire Real Estate Continuing Education Requirements The State of New Hampshire currently requires all active and inactive licensees to successfully complete a minimum of three clock hours of core continuing education courses upon the renewal of their real estate license. If you are in need of renewing your currently active license, you should fill out the Salesperson Renewal Form and send it in as soon as possible. New Hampshire Real Estate License Reciprocity Agreements As of January 1, 1998, the New Hampshire Real Estate Commission is able to enter into reciprocal licensing agreements with commissions from other states. However, at this time only the following states have signed and approved reciprocity agreements: 1. Massachusetts 2. Maine 3. Vermont 4. Tennessee If you are an active license in one of the above states you may be able to obtain your New Hampshire real estate license by taking only the state portion of the licensing exam.

Good Luck,

Dan
