Showing Realtors who don't leave feedback

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty

Sellers are anxious.  Times are difficult and that's why it's even more important that the professional courtesy of providing feedback it honored.

So why don't some of us provide feedback after showing another realtor's listing?  Is it arrogance .... you just can't be bothered?  Is is laziness?  How about the "I'm too busy" excuse?  Whatever the reason, it's just plain rude!

Think a minute.  Isn't is a good thing to keep positive relations with fellow realtors? Providing feedback enhances relationships. Perhaps even more important the seller knows who you are ..... you think they might put you on their "do not call list" for future reference after experiencing your snub?

What comes around goes around so make it a habit to provide feedback.

I very rarely give feedback after showings. I will NEVER give feedback from my buyers as that would be against my agency relationship with them.  I will however give you feedback at your broker's open.  If you send me an email asking for MY feedback a couple of days after showing with a link to the home I will return the email.  A couple of weeks ago after a showing (15 minutes after) I received a phone call for feedback, I was still showing the buyers other homes.  The agent called 3 more times that day - guess what? She never received my feedback! I think this is why feedback isn't give - the constant hounding from some agents is infuriating!

I use an automated system too -- even so, there are those who simply will not repond to an e-mail or voice mail request.  Too bad for them.

Hi Sissi,

I was like you...some time ago!!! I was always glad to give a feedback ...until...I GOT PISSED OFF FOR NOT GETTING ANY!!!! My office would send the first email by default, I would send the next one and even called and left a message on voice mails and guess what?! Nobody would be decent enough to call me back and give me a feedback.

Well, lets just say I am not as punctual as before regarding the feedback! If you call me I will gladly give it to you if not...I am not answering the emails either...except for the agents I've received a feedback before!

I have a little "black book" where are add the "special" sales reps :)

Maybe You'll think I'm bad but that's "Matilda's Rule Book" and that way I do not upset my ulcer I just add them to my black book....and wait!!! :))

Regards,

Matilda

Sissy,

You are so right!  This is obviously a hot button.  It seems lately about 35-40% of Realtors don't leave feedback.  Of course, we then have to email, call or do whatever it takes to find out what the potential buyer thought.  It doesn't matter to the seller that they're probably not going to buy the house, they just want to know why.

I understand we show a lot of homes and sometimes when you're out all day showing 15-20 properties, you can't always get to it that evening, but, please, get to it as soon as possible.

Here in the Triangle, you can even provide feedback from your smart phone while you're getting a cup of coffee.  The good folks/sellers of our community deserve at least that.

Thanks for your post!

Thanks to all for your comments --- providing feedback is the professional thing to do -- even if you felt hounded by the listing realtor.  It's just the right thing to do and it will profit you later.

This has been bothering us as of late. We always give feedback because, as you've said, it is the professional thing to do. Our feedback forms get automatically emailed to the agent, so there is really no excuse for an agent not to fill it out as it takes 60 seconds, max.

Sissy,  What goes around--comes around.  The agent who choses not to respond has the right; but at some point the hounding will be from his/her seller wanting to know why no feedback.  Do you reckon the answer is honest: "I have it coming because I don't consider others in my dealings."

Somewhere down the line, a REALTOR® trying to get a seller to remove the velvet picture of Elvis from over the mantle, will get the honest input from a selling agent, and have a second opinion to present to the seller.  Well, maybe not Elvis, but some horrid wallpaper or chandelier, or the kitty liter box in the master bedroom.  What about concern over an old roof, or foundation cracks?

WE can help one another, and it doesn't cost a thing.  Too busy to send an e-mail?  Send text, or push seven digits on the phone dial: "Hey, I'm on the run.  Just to let you know my buyers had some concerns about the size of the Master bedroom, but they loved the media room.  If they express an interest in a second look, I'll call you.  Good luck."

So hard, so time consuming, such a sacrifice... poor little realty person.  With great sympathy, I thank you for gracing our profession with your presence.  How would we ever get along without you?

Sissy, don't answer that!  Let them think the world revolves around them.  But know this, when I bring a client to view one of your listing, I will respond to your query, as I'm sure you will mine.  Isn't it great living in the Greater Nashville community?

It is indeed, Frank.  Thanks for you post.  Perhaps the professional courtesy comes with a little maturity too ;-)

I do not think giving feedback will hurt your buyers. But I guess applying the Golden Rule and using some common sense when giving feedback is too hard for some agents.
