For those of you who don't know, and I can't beleive that EVERYONE doesn't know, there is a movie of the week on the SyFy network called 'Sharktopus' premiering later this year.
The movie is in post production by the infamous Roger Corman, who has acted in, directed, or produced nearly 500 films in his illustrious career. The film stars Eric Roberts, an Oscar nominated actor with several critically acclaimed movies to his credit.
I am somewhat of a bad movie junkie so I'm actually looking forward to the premiere with every bit of enthusiasm as the soon to be classic "MegaShark vs Giant Octopus"
"Why in the world would an Oscar nominated actor accept a roll in a movie called 'Sharktopus'?" Hmmm, I would suspect it's either a labor of love or just plain for the money.
What on earth does this have to do with the selling of real estate? Well, I'll tell you. (in my humble opinion)
We all know several agents in our towns who 'specialize' in only the luxury market. The kind of agents who possibly have a lack of knowledge of the lower end market or have made a business decision that the paycheck isn't worth the hassle. We've got several here in Omaha and I certainly harbor no ill will toward them at all.
I have homes listed everywhere from $39,900 to $325,000 currently. One of my listings just sold for $16,000. I am, and always have been, willing to work in all price ranges with all levels of buyers.
Right before that $16,000 house went pending, I got a call from one of these 'upper end' agents wanting to show it. It wasn't one of her buyers agents, it was her. I had a nice conversation with her about the house and she set the appointment, even laughing a bit about some of the other homes she had set up, all in that same range.
Not more than an hour later, I got another call to show that very same property from another 'upper end' agent. Again, he was showing it, not one of his assistants or buyers agents. The last time I had worked with him was on a nearly $400,000 transaction a couple of years ago. He joked about working in this in price point too!
What I had found out in that short exchange was that nearly every agent who still needs a paycheck, and has some humility about them, are pretty much willing to work with any clients who are ready, willing, and able to make a purchase right now. I've never given it much thought over the years as I've always worked that way.
But these two high producers were out there showing $16,000 houses, the Real Estate equivelant of an actor like Eric Roberts making a movie called "Sharktopus". (In my humble opinion).
And now, for your viewing pleasure... a link to the trailer of "Sharktopus".
