Special offer

Just one more reason I love my job

Today was a special day for me. I love taking out buyers to find the perfect home. I am ecstatic when a seller gets to close on their home. I love it when I get a call from a fellow agent with a referral. It is a special day when I get a call from a past client telling me that they are having a baby and they need to sell to be able to afford a bigger house for their growing family.

Those days are special for many reasons, but today was not one of those days. I was privileged to be able to attend a class by one of if not my best friend in the real estate business. I got up early this morning, grabbed my coffee and proceeded to drive 128 miles each way from my house to the Keller Williams Realty office in Columbia, SC to attend an Internet Lead Generation class taught by David Patterson www.DavidPatterson.net.

With Keller Williams Realty www.kw.com there is never any lack of classes being taught. Even though I took this class about 2 years ago and it was a 2 days course, I learned so much today. There were so many "Ah-hah's" as us KW people call it when we learn something we hadn't thought of. As David told one of the non-KW agents today, "Hey we love to share, if you ask a question, don't be surprised if we give you that answer and offer a couple more".

Here are a couple things that I will share:

  • Your audience is the only thing that matters
  • Always ask for the business
  • Come from a place of contribution
  • Make sure that your buyers are ABLE, Ready and Willing
  • Always make sure that if you blog and it isn't your content to give proper credit

One of the things that I have learned as a real estate professional is that learning should never stop. In our profession, most agents moan and groan about their annual CE (Continuing Education) classes but I actually look forward to them. There is always something that as a team we could be doing or improve upon. We made a decision as a company to always strive to be the best and that means that we share with like-minded professionals who have the same goal.

Sounds like a great day Lisa! I love "always ask for the business" I still sometimes have a hard time with this one, especially with aquaintances that I may not have seen for a while. I am getting better at it though! I did it 3 different times today with people I have not seen for a while!

Plus you got a listing and a new purchase from one client! You are right, today IS a good day! I love my job too!

2-hours of driving?  Wow.  But, it sounds like that class was well worth it!  I keep hearing that our job is ultimately, nothing more than lead generation.  So, I'd love to hear a few more of those ah-ha moments.  :-)

Stephanie: I know about getting out of our comfort zones right?

Ryan: actually it was 2 hours each way. That is how much I wanted to be in this class today. There are many more aha moments. I will give you one here, (the rest are a seperate blog in the future)

To me, the best feeling is when I take a buyer to a house and they light up with excitement and are dying to write a contract.

Wade:

dont get me wrong, I love that the MOST, but sometimes I just like to get with my peers and hear what is working and NOT in their personal business. Have a great week.
