It was recently announced by the local Oceanside School board that they will discontinue elementary school busing, so parents will need to come up with another way to get their children to school. This most current announcement has parents scrambling.
Bus service for elementary general education students will no longer be available in the Oceanside Unified School District. The OUSD Board of Education unanimously voted Tuesday night to end transportation as part of its efforts to balance the district budge..
By law, special education students will still be offered busing at no charge. Middle and high school students residing on Camp Pendleton will still have the option to participate in fee for service transportation. The elimination of general education elementary bus service will impact about 1,500 students district-wide.
State budget cuts have severely impacted most school districts.
