Canaan – Grafton County NH

Home to the Cardigan Mountain School, the Town’s largest employer it sits at the base of Mountain CardiganCanaan - Grafton County NH a very popular hike.  New Hampshire State Forest surrounds a large area of Canaan and there also are many cultural opportunities and historic destinations. Dartmouth College is 16 miles and Plymouth State University only 24 miles.

Population: 2001- 3,400  Land area is 5.5 square miles

Schools: Canaan Elementary (grades K-4); Indian River School (grades 5-8) Cardigan Mt. School (grades 6-9) and Mascoma Valley regional (grades 9-12)

Special Events: 8/6, 8/7, 8/8 Old Home Days; Every Tuesday through August at 7PM Concerts on the Green; Every Sunday through October 10 from 10AM-1PM Farmer’s Market.

Public Library

Town Boards: Selectman, Planning, Conservation Commission, Historic District Commission, Water Protection Committee.

 

Easton – Grafton County NH.

 

Comprised mainly of White Mountain National Forest, Easton has one of the smallest populations in the Easton - Grafton county NHWestern White Mountain. It gets some recent recognition as one of its native sons is world class skier- Bode Miller. There are many pretty streams, and broad valley at the foot of Kinsman Mt. There is a well known south wind that blows through known as the “Bungay Jar”.

Population: 256, land area: 31.2 square miles

Schools: SAU 35 Lafayette District- Lafayette Elementary (grades k-6) Profile Regional (grades 7-12)

Library: Public Library

Recreation: Fishing Wild Ammonoosuc River, snowmobiling, camping in several area campgrounds, X-C skiing, hiking.

Special Events: 4th July Parade and Old Home Days together with Franconia, Town Holiday party in December.

Town Boards: Selectmen, Planning, Zoning, Conservation Commission.
