Is it really that hard to return a phone call?

Ranom vendting...

I always try to call on properties before I show them so I have the full "scoop" on a property. So I called on a property 1.5 days before showing it with no call back. I showed the property, they loved it. I called again to see if they had any offers or if it was available, even though the MLS says its active. We write an offer, I call again to say I am sending an offer. Still no call back. Two days later, I get an email saying "SORRY" we havent changed the MLS yet but we got an offer last week that was accepted!!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Is it really that hard to return a phone call? This is so irritating. Now the buyers got all excited and got their hopes up for nothing. All it would have taken was a 20 second call to say it isnt available. Or even better yet... Change the MLS like we are supposed to do!

That's awful!  Some real estate agents are so hard to get a hold of.

I closed on a condo today.  The buyers called me from a listing they had saw on the Internet.  When I first talked to them on the phone I asked if they were working with a real estate agent, and they said they weren't.  They said that they called a number of them but I was the first to answer my phone.

It pays to answer the phone.

Hey Amber, this drives me absolutely crazy! I just had this happen with a buyer, really irritated me that they allowed us to waste our time not only showing the property but then writing an offer, knowing they were already in contract. Ok, you haven't updated in mls, we all get busy, but what does it take to make a phone call and leave a message, like 2 seconds? At least tell your appointment desk in the office.

Amber, in this case, you have every right to be angry. I've been searching properties for rent for several colleagues at my school and most of them have been rented out, but were still in the mls as active. At least the agents thought enough to let me know ahead of the scheduled showings that they were already taken, otherwise, i would have been royally pissed as well.
