 Members of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce attended the meeting at the Von Braun Civic Center. There were sessions held and panel discussions regarding BRAC.The panel consisted of representatives from the Army Materiel Command, U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, and the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command. They provided BRAC updates and spoke on the progress of their respective commands and agencies as they relate to the BRAC transition.


Topics included the quality of life, education, housing and a young professional's perspective.
There was a discussion of the  BRAC Overview and Construction update presented by Hugh Ball, president of the Greater Limestone County Chamber of Commerce, and Col. John Olshefski, garrison commander of Redstone Arsenal.

The other discussion was the develoment Workforce Development Update presented by Lucia Cape, vice president of Workforce with the Huntsville-Madison County Chamber of Commerce, and Karen Bandera, deputy GI for Army Materiel Command headquarters and chair of the Redstone Arsenal Steering Committee.

BRAC transfers are to take place from 2007-11 and involve some 5,000 workers from other military installations to Redstone Arsenal with another 5,000 support workers expected.

Scottsboro AL is expecting to bring in alot of the BRAC people to the area.
