The Best Recruiting Technique EVER!

By
Real Estate Agent with Alotta Apartments

I am an active realtor, but once a week I pass flyers out at the State Exam Center, to let newly licensed agents

know about my company.  One day I get a call and from an experienced agent who wanted to join my company.

He had heard about us and already knew he wanted to switch companies. I asked him, how did he find out

about me. He said " I picked up your flyer off the ground in Manhattan NY"  Well, talk about making my day! My

poor post cards are usually used as fans, bookmarks (as the agents are studying) even thrown on the ground.

Who would have thought that thowing my cards on the floor was a good thing.

Which got me to thinking, I wonder if I went to a tall building and threw a bunch of my Postcards off the top of

the building, would I get more agents than handing them out. Besides the whole littering thing, I think that's a

 good idea.  Just kidding.

Malika,  you never know how the word gets through, but sometimes it does.  One productive agent can pay for an awful lot of cards!!

Or are you (kidding, that is).  With advertising, there are certainly targetted methods that work.  But never overlook the power of random luck!  :)

Malika Have you been to Val's new Exit recruiting Bootcamp?   Talk about a dynamic person!  She has recruited 135 agents in less then 2 years!  She won't have to worry about her future!  She can retire before she hits 30 at this rate!  She does the same thing you mentioned here.  Good luck with recruiting!

Hi Malika, Great recruiting story, and I must say, I have not recruited any one in that way for real estate!

Hi Malika,

A great story. I have honestly not thought about that in the market which I am currently in, however, I when I was a military recruiter every once in a while I would drop several business cards on benches on college campuses or very busy high traffic retail stores. Everyone knows someone and you never know when that particular someone is thinking about a change.

Great idea and I've definitely thought about doing the same thing, but they have "no soliciting" signs in the parking lot and I'm afraid of getting in trouble...oh well...I'm planning to attend the bootcamp in the future though!  Keep up the great work!

I like your story very much.  There are no sky scrapers in Etowah, NC, but maybe I can think of something else...

I do know that the RE/Max agents in the area are watching EXIT and are getting tired of those desk fees...

If I was going to recruit anyone right now, I would start making connections with the Re/max agents and when they are ready, they will see the light and join (and bring all their friends).

We fixed real estate

Exit seems to flourish on new agents.  They tried to recruit people inside a class at the Board of REALTORS in my area and got in trouble.

I'd rather have people with experience than total newbies.  I pay for the E and O!

Good luck with them.
