Why Don't You Call Me? Don't You Love Me??

By
Real Estate Agent with Transaction Alliance 513.520.5305 www.LizTour.com SAL.2002007747

You WAIT... You WAIT some more... Should I call him?  Again?  Will it make me look too anxious?Waiting for the Phone to Ring

But I REALLY need to talk to him!!!  WHY won't he call??  Ring!! RINNGG!!!!  Let me get on with my life!!

But we're not talking about some teenager here  (besides, they'd be texting, not waiting for a call), but that anxious time when you're waiting for some important call.

Perhaps it's the bank... don't get me started on our mortgage holder... there's no logic there.

Perhaps it's the plumber, called three yesterday to get some work done, the first plumber declined, gave us some other numbers to try, left messages with those two early afternoon yesterday... clearly stated the cell phone number multiple times to each, no call back.

Fine way to run a business.... now we know why Jay & Charles & Michael & Russel find so much Joe Do-It-Yourselfer work done.... when all else fails, break out the propane torch and let's go to work!

Perhaps it's the listing agent with that one vital piece of info your buyer wants but isn't in MLS.  And we've heard the "BUT I put EVERYTHING you need to know in MLS, so just write the bleepin' offer ALREADY and we'll answer your question later."

Well, it doesn't always work that way.  The buyer doesn't want to get overly invested in the property until they've got that one answer, so cut us a break and spend 60 seconds calling us and we may both win!

So, we'll continue to wait for the phone to ring.  First responder gets the contract!  Sometimes it's not the early bird, but the only bird that bothers to show up that gets the worm!

So if you're looking for an agent who will return your call, call The Liz Spear Team of RE/MAX Elite!

Mr. Plumber, we're waiting for the phone to ring!

Jenna,

All you had to do was go to a movie.  They'd have called within 20 minutes of the start!

We'd recommend Inception!  We took some R&R time Sunday afternoon and went.  Fantastic flick!  Great special effects too.

I have seen the commercials & I know it's on the radar screen for my husband.  He is the movie buff in the house...I am a book person.  I wish I could live in the library!

Jenna,

Hmm, I probably should have thought of Blondie first!  But Jenny Jenny popped into my head first!

It seems to be part of an agents job description to wait for a call back.

Jenna,

Inception is one to see on the big screen.  Well paced, makes you think, but still plenty of action.  Not too many movies that I'm willing to drop the $20 on tickets and another $10+ for popcorn/soda, but this was one!

Deanne,

The frustration is that even with cell phones it handcuffs your ability to do certain other things.  We've intentionally put off other tasks because we didn't want to be occupied when that expected important call comes!

Gosh, isn't it a shame!    I know Monday morning I made at LEAST 20 calls, and many emails, and still not many answers!     One would THINK, service providers wuld WANT to call back!   GREAT POST!

Waiting for a call you consider important is very agonizing.  Returning all calls in a timely manner demonstrates professionalism and it's a shame there is such a lack of it in many cases.  I don't think people have somuch business that they don't need another customer/sale.

Joan,

Thanks!  It's a pet peeve of mine.  Try not to ask anyone for too much, so a simple phone call, especially when trying to give you business?  That's TOO much to ask?? Seriously....

Carra, Unfortunately, too many professionals, aren't.

Yeah, I thought about that, but thought SOMEONE in cyberspace might take it the wrong way! :)

And you never took the bait and ran with yesterday's post  :(

Bill - I have to opposite problem, my phone is always . . drat *phone ringing*. . . hang on a sec! (answers phone, talks for a minute, then hangs up). . . . Ok, I'm back now! The issue is that I have a hard time getting anything done because of my phone. . . so maybe we could work out a deal or something! ;)

Phly, I'd just like the RIGHT people to call!  Wouldn't know what to do with your clients!  STILL waiting on either of the plumbers to call, 24+ hours and counting now.  This keeps up, I'm going to the shed and breaking out the propane torch and solder to do the job myself.  Done it before, will do it again if they make me (and got the scars to show for it!).

I know the feeling.  I love when agents ask me questions and I don't care how silly they are.  It means their client actually HAS some interest.  I keep a sheet of paper in the front of my listing binder specifically for questions that come in, so that when I get the answers, I have a record of it so I don't have to try to remember it all or call the seller with the same questions.

If one buyer has a questions, then chances are at some point another buyer will have the same question.

Is it really 10 bucks a ticket now for movies?  Wow, I haven't been in years.  I think it was $1.75 last time I went :)

Kristen,

Exactly.  Sometimes they're "stupid" questions, but at least they're asking.  Interest can be cultivated and hopefully grown into an answer.

I know Andy claims everything is cheaper in Maine, but $1.75??  I think the matinees here are about 7 or 8, full price pushing 10 now.  Crazy.

Bill and Liz,
sure don't understand why some professional folks do not call back in a timely fashion, or don't call you back when they say they will. My lady and I was working with an agent in this area. We were the buy client, it was like pulling teeth to get a call back.

Have a good one

Kay, Those who have no stake in the deal just don't care, do they?  What's a timeline to them?  We feel your pain!

I spend half my life waiting for THAT call.  I go by the rule of 3 to 1.  I call three times for their one call.  The 4th time my message is not pleasant.

Jane, I can relate to the frustration by the 4th call.  I always have difficulty believing someone is SO busy they can't return a call at some point!
