PLEASE!! Spend the six bucks to look a little more professional!

Services for Real Estate Pros with CBSHOME Real Estate

I understand that an agent feels the need to leave one company for another from time to time. I believe that more than not, it's a case of 'the grass is always greener' but that's a whole different blog...

Today I want to talk to those agents who have made that move, and about how RIDICULOUS your signs look with your OLD sign riders stuck on them.

There's a company in Omaha who's signs have blue and white theme, very professional with a white background and blue lettering on the individual agent's sign riders.

One particular agent had made the move from this company to another in town with a black on red theme, and particularly skinny signs.

Today I drove by two of his listings with his OLD sign riders attached to his new signs and it looked absolutely ridiculous! (He made the move about two months ago) His old sign riders were not only mismatched but stuck out several inches on either side of his sign.

I'm quite certain that in your negotiations with your new company, they probably would have ponied up for some sign riders for you buddy. Or maybe they did and you were too cheap to throw your old ones away, who knows?

Sorry for the rant but if your sellers are paying thousands of dollars to have decent representation, don't you owe it to them to have a nice looking sign, with accessories?

Spend the six bucks please!

Bill:  My Assistant and I were just having this same discussion!  Let's face it, maybe a week or two. . .  As for me, couldn't one take the time to "plan" the move and have everything in-place!  What about using a generic sign for your new company until you new ones arrive!  I'm with you -- get with it!

Great point, first impressions of who you are are transmitted by the signs.  Everything one does has to have consistency to communicate who you are.

Hi Bill,

I can't help but wonder why the Brokerage would allow that. If I had a brokerage I sure as sugar wouldn't want my signs to look like that!

Or, you could negotiate the new riders with your new firm! Of course, if you're going out in your own, it's all on you!

HaHaHa...that's too funny.  I've seen this exact thing many times myself and wondered the same thing.  You could look at it as being thrifty, though...that's a good attribute to have.

Just sayin'...

Tish, totally agree, I don't know anyone who made the move in an instant!

Ron & Alexandria, The first impression of the neighbors would be to NOT list with that guy!

Pam, I would think the brokerage would frown on it but have no way of policing it.

Bill, if they buy new business cards, I'm sure they'll spring for riders!

Lanette, We've all had to cut back but I sure wouldn't do it here. Another one that I giggle about are the agents who change a phone number and use number stickers over their signs! that is so yuck!

Thanks all for reading!
