What Is Full Broker Support? Do You Have It?

What is Full Broker Support?  I must receive at least 6 email blasts per day from real estate companies recruiting agents and I'm not an agent.  One of their favorite bullet points is "Full Broker Support".  There's never any further explanation and never any examples of what Full or 100% Broker Support actually means.  So, being the social media director for a growing independent real estate company in Las Vegas, I was curious as to what that phrase means to agents.

I'm sure you can think of the obvious:

  • Your Broker is there when you need them
  • If not in the office, your broker is reachable by phone/text/fax
  • Even after hours and on weekends, you can reach your Broker if necessary
  • Training is provide
  • Supervision is provided
  • Marketing is provided
  • Office space and facilities are provided, i.e. computers, etc.

But I constantly hear from agents outside our company that they can never find their broker when they need them.  This happens even during normal business hours.  Cell phones aren't answered, messages aren't returned, signatures cannot be gotten.   Essentially,  it seems there is a lot less than Full or 100% Broker Support at some companies.   So what is going on?  Is it possible that most companies that tout Full Broker Support are merely using that as a enticement without any facts to back it up?  I don't know but it seems to be that an agent researching and interviewing a real estate company should ask the current agents this question.  Do you have Full Broker Support?   And, what does that mean to you?

How about Brokers who are also full time producing agents?  This seems to be an issue that has been brought up and could explain the lack of Full Broker Support in some offices.

Why bring this to your attention?  I think that most agents forget to ask the important questions when they interview with a company.  Like most of us, we get excited about something, we are referred by someone or we are so fed up with where we are, that we just need to move on.

I know that when we interview prospective agents, we discuss, in detail what Full Broker Support means in our office.  It means that you have someone you can see, call, text, email 24/7 and get a response as quickly as possible.  That goes along with all the other items I listed above.

What does Full Broker Support mean to you?  I'm guessing a lot of agents actually have it and know exactly what it is.

What's funny is that I am getting those same emails from two different companies and I just left one of those companies that are blasting because the two times I had questions in the 7 months or so I was there, I would get a blank stare.  Plus I couldn't get paid in a timely manner as they were losing paperwork - that was handed in once, twice, three times or more.

I shrug and LOL every time I see one of them.

Thanks Renee for your candid comment.  I am glad you have found a home with Full Broker Support.   I also laugh when I see those emails, hopefully others will ASK before signing on,
