Originally published in the summer of 2010, the subject matter in the following post is still relevant for Texans in 2016 and has lots of historical interest.

An article from the College Station Texas, Real Estate Center reports that "One word describes the future of Texas real estate - population."

"More people are moving to Texas than are moving out. These new adult Texans need housing the day they arrive. That is more good news for a real estate industry that has already fared better most states during the latest economic downturn."

For more information, read "The Changing Face of Texas" in the July issue of Tierra Grande magazine, the flagship periodical of the Real Estate Center. It is online at http://recenter.tamu.edu/pdf/1938.pdf.

I just wished that many of these people moving here wouldn't put so much weight on the national news saying land is cheap here. Many buyers get disappointed when they thought they could get a 3000 sqft home for $150k, but need to go up to $200k at least.

Great news for us, with the exception of the fact that Austin is going to have a heck of a time trying to figure out where on the roads we are going to put all of those cars.  Our road system is a disaster.

I think sometimes we may not realize how fortunate we are compared to some other parts of the Country.
