Recently one of my local Realtors who appreciates the benefits that Home Staging has in preparing her listings for sale, approached me with a challenge. She had a client that desperately needed to sell their property due to ill health, Since funds were extremely limited even buy day to day necessities, there was obviously no money to pay for the services of a Home Stager.
Little did I know how this all woiuld turn out!!
I met with the agent and homeowner anyway to view the property, only to discover that the situation was alot more dire, the homeowners were in danger of actually losing the home, so it NEEDED TO SELL!
As i began to walk around the property and view what changes were required, I realized that I could not do this task alone. This home had 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a suite in the basement and a almost monumental amount of clutter in each and every room. I truly felt overwhelmed!
Then I had an inspiration or brain hiccup, not sure what to call what I did next, because I surprised the heck out of myself! I pulled the agent aside and told her that given the financial circumstances of the family and the amount of business she had done with us, I would donate my time to stage the property. However I could not do this alone, so I would have to put out feelers and see if I could get anyone else on board to help out.
I got back to the office that afternoon and sent an email blast out to every local stager I could think of regardless of training or certification and gently summarized the situation. Asking if anyone would be interested in giving back to a couple who so desperately needed their property staged! I prepared the Real Estate Agent as well, letting her know that I was really not sure what if any response I would get.
Now this is the best part!! In response to the email that I sent out I had 6 women that were willing to donate their time to help stage this home. One stager was going to drive 2 hours each way just to come and help. One actually did drive an hour each way. Everyone came with tool kits and lunches prepared to give their very best to make this home look SHOW STOPPING!
It is truly amazing what empowered and inspired stagers can do! Never before have I worked with such a talented group of ladies! Even the REA got in on the action and helped as well. She was truly amazed at how well a group of women could work together!
It actually amazed me! We started at 9:00 am and were completely finished the whole property by 1:30. Dont you just love TEAMWORK! A BIG HUGE THANK YOU to a group of amazingly talented women, who LOVE what they do. Without you this project would not have been the success it was!
