You have a mold problem.

Another mislabeled home today, second one this week.  "You have a mold problem, call the cleanup company."  After a real mold inspection by a State of Florida Licensed Mold Assessor, no you do not have a "mold problem".    That is bad news for a homeowner but not as bad as when the "inspector" gives the all clear when there really is a problem.

Consumers in Ft Myers, Cape Coral, Naples, Bonita Springs and Marco Island, Florida are still hiring unlicensed inspectors to do their mold inspections and mold testing.  Why would you hire an unlicensed mold assessor?  Qualified mold inspectors have no problem getting the Mold Assessor license from the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Mold Assessors are required to have experience, training and insurance.  No license qualifies for another license; a home inspector license does NOT qualify for a mold assessor license.

Effective: July 1, 2010

Florida Law requires Mold Assessors (Inspectors) to be licensed by the Florida DBPR.

(Chapter 468, Part XVI of the Florida Statutes and Rule 61-31 of the Florida Administrative Code.)

Couldn't agree more.  It's important for clients to do due diligence on the evaluating firm, prior to having the mold test / mold inspection completed.
