San Jacinto - We're Cleaning You Up...One Block at a Time!

The City of San Jacinto has announced a new plan to clean up the city - one block at a time.  That's right, next Saturday August 25th 2007; the City of San Jacinto will sponsor its first official clean up day which will be the beginning of the first month long project, where city employees, resources and residents alike will all pitch in to clean up a small section of town.

City Councilmen Dale Stubblefield and John Mansperger united and formed a committee that will focus the efforts of city officials, departments and residents on a single area of the city, for the month long project, that will start with the single focus day.

Beginning at 8:00 a.m. and running till noon, there will be large trash bins, provided by the City of San Jacinto so residents can clean up and dispose of the waste that is generated.  The trash bins will be there to collect everything from yard waste, green trimmings trash and large items such as furniture and appliances.  The bins are not for paint, hazardeous materials, electronics tires or auto parts.

The city crews will be there to help trim trees, paint curbs and do whatever they can to help clean the neighborhood up.  Stubblefield says, "We will work on cleaning up our city, one block at a time".

A word of caution to the area residents - both police officers and code enforcement personnel will be participating in the clean-up effort.  The whole project is intended to elicit the participation of the community and local residents - not to force anyone to do anything.  However, citations will be issued if identified problems are not rectified on a voluntary basis.

So, the neighborhood chosen to jump start this new San Jacinto project will be boarded by Seventh Street, Main Street, Hewitt and Mistletoe Avenue.

We'll see you out there...

Nestor and Katerina Gasset There are parts of our valley that need some help more than others.  You are right though, it is a great way to both give back to the community and get better known.

We'll see you out there...

John-That is a great community event.  Will you participating as an individual or will your company be involved?  Will there be anything available at a later date to help homeowners get rid of the hazardous stuff?  Aloha.

1SG (Ret) David & Tonya Kucic - I'm not real sure of the details - I just read about it in the paper Saturday afternoon, a couple of hours before posting the article.  I will be looking more into the details in the a.m.  If nothing else I was thinking of printing up a branded flyer to drop door to door, announcing the details of the event - can't hurt as long as I don't pass out in the 120 degree heat we've had the past few days, out in the sun.

We are sizzling hot here in Hemet - San Jacinto...cooking eggs on the dashboards of cars

John-Is that real?  Was that a real dashboard and a real egg?  Holy cow!  All you need is some rice, portugese sausage and shoyu and you can have a great breakfast.  Dont forget a glass of POG (Passion Orange Guava).  Our temp here in Hawaii is around 88-90 daily this time of year with 10-20 mph tradewinds.

1SG (Ret) David Kucic Hawaii Relocation Expert - OK, I have a confession to make, I found the pictures online...but trust me it has been that HOT.  As gorgeous as it is in Hawaii with your 88 degree weather, I'll take my desert heat and not worry about a hurricane or tornado, if thats OK with you.  Heck, I'm not even concerned with a tsunami...except if we had one and the coast got swallowed up, I'd be upset if I had to live close to the beach...I much prefer living in the desert.

John, I've lived in Florida, Hawaii, California, Utah, Seattle, Tacoma, Portland, All over Europe and worked in Japan and Taiwan and Korea. My mother loved the desert in California. I was born in Stanford. We lived in Menlo Park, San Francisco, Elverta, Sacramento, Santa Rosa, Sonoma and LA during pilot seasons for several years. Out of all the places I have lived, I choose Hawaii above the rest. The desert is just too dry and hot for me. The north is too cold. But all in all, we are so blessed in the United States to live here!

David, I make rice and eggs almost every other day. And do I ever miss the homegrown Guava juice from Hawaii. It just does not taste the same here. It must be the variety of the Guava. And I see that it has been 66 degrees in the evenings! How wonderful is that! Katerina

Nestor and Katerina Gasset - Living in all of these locations makes you sound like you might have grown up as a "Military Brat".  Certainly you did move around.

Let's see, over my 50+ years I started out on Long Island, New York and have lived in Virginia, Washington D.C., Texas, Colorado and of course California.  In addition, I lived in Italy for a year and Germany for 5...courtesy of our Uncle Sam.

For the time being, I think I'll stay here in Southern Cal...

I was a Navy Brat. But that was just took us to Norfolk Virginia and then Europe, stationed in Germany. Dad was Navy Intelligence. They got divorced when I was 8. Moved to states with mom. Most of my traveling started when I was 16 as a model. The rest is another story for another day! I am glad you like where you are! That is important! Katerina
