St Louis already had their Bar Camp, Does KC have what it takes?

Why no REBCKC? Why have we not done this yet? Is it time for us to hold the first annual Kansas City Real Estate Bar Camp?

You know, the Free ad hoc gathering of Real Estate marketing, social media and tech folks who share new ideas, listen and have fun for a day of sessions and conversations? (See www.rebarcamp.com)

Are these events just for the big high-tech citys? Can we compete with megalopolises like Rye, Raleigh, Charlotte and Columbus? (all have hosted or are hosting a bar camp this year)

Bar Camp Locations

I was fortunate enough to be at the first ReBarCamp in San Fransisco 3 years ago, and have been to a dozen since - all while longing for a KC local to step forward and host an event.

In order to Host a KC Bar Camp:

-We need a location.

-We need some funding.

-We need some volunteers.

-We need to help promote the event at meetings and online.

I'll take the first step, if there is some support and interest. Can we / Should we do this? Are you interested?

I just had a meeting / coffee with a potential partial Sponsor! Things look good on that front. They were thinking about a date 2 months from now. But we need feed back and help!

Woo-Hoo! Great to see the support here and get the phone calls emails! I'm excited. ReBarCamp Kansas City will Rock - but it cant happen with out help. (this is a community / group event after all)

We are Going to have an informal REBCKC Convo on Wed. Likely lunch somewhere on the plaza for all who might want to help / participate. The meeting will focus on:

Date: looks like Wed Oct 6 - 9-4pm but we will discuss options.

Location: Need to find a FREE space that can hold 250, close to lunch/food locations that preferably has 4-5 separate rooms / spaces. Bring specific ideas.

Funding: (we have a very significant start on funding already!)

Event / Badge Sponsorship (SOLD) $2000

Session Room Sponsors (5/5 available) $400 each

Base Sponsorship level $200 each

Logo: Need to get submissions for a cool REBCKC Logo. Contest?

Website: I purchased http://REBCKC.com We will have it live and pointed to the REBC website after we finalize the date. It will contain the RSVP tool, event info, blog and the Sponsorship payment tool (via pay pal).

Till the website is up, this is a good location for info. Ill post the Wed mtg location soon. If you want to come to the planning mtg and be an official REBCKC Co Host Just let me know!
