GOVERNMENT WARNING Do Not Travel Highway 8 in AZ TOO DANGEROUSArizona Desert

On Highway 8, which is just around 50 - 80 miles north of the Arizona Mexico border, that runs from Arizona's highway 10 to San Diego, has several signs posted by the US Government warning people to not travel this American highway.

The reason is because of the drug cartel and coyotes using the highway making it too dangerous for Americans to travel.

It's interesting because the signs say if you see "suspicious activity" to call 911. The 911 calls don't go to the government, they go to the local Police Departments, and the government has sued AZ to stop them from enforcing the laws. So what could the Police do if they're called?

I live in Val Vista Lakes, a wonderful sub-division in the East Valley of Phoenix AZ, and have travelled highway 8 to San Diego in the past, and would like to be able to do it again.

It's unfortunate that my family and our Val Vista Lakes friends and neighbors are advised that it's unsafe to drive our own highways.

Keep in mind that this area has the Goldwater bombing range between I-8 and border all the way from Gila Bend to Yuma.  Certainly not the first choice of traffickers.  Living in Yuma, we don't see these problems as much as the southeastern part of the state.

What a shame-if it is that bad you would think they have patrols on it all the time.

Right Dan, but from Gila Bend to highway 10 it's wide open.

Debra, the government is fighting AZ for wanting to protect ourselves, while the government is doing nothing.

The 911 call does not go to the government. It goes to the local police departments

Captain Bill, it is important that people hear about this from the slant of those who live in Arizona.  Keep spreading the word. Thanks

Right Mary Kay, it is getting bad when the government tells you it isn't safe to travel on your highways.

I had not heard this. Makes me sad for my native state of Arizona!  It certainly was not like that when I was growing up.

Impeach Obama
When are we going to collectively stand and demand that we Impeach Obama (we do not want Pelosi or others to take his place either) We need big changes and now. How in the world can Obama have signs put up on Hwy 8 & 10 in AZ asking Americans to stay away from their own highways...stay in thier homes? Obama is suing AZ for protecting their own boarders; what is Obama's job anyway? TO PROTECT US FROM OUR ENEMIES and from illegal aliens! AND IF THAT ISN'T ENOUGH HE IS ACUSING OUR OWN COUNTRY OF He is asking for 50 Billion dollars to protect teachers, police and fireman jobs, isn't he using that same excuse for a second stimulus? Stop taking money we don't have to give it to those who won't get it in the first place! Take charge of your budget and protect our country from illegal alien's that is your job Mr President! You ARE FIRED along with your czars and your socialist partners in Congress...Pelosi, Reed and the rest of them? Republicans, you get ready to DO the job right, not like before! NO PORK and yes, a balanced budget! Our country needs to be left alone to do our business without interference from the government and a business friendly America for Americans! Things will get better if government stays out of our way. IMPEACH OBAMA and put the Democrat elected officials on trial for what they are doing to our country and HOW they are spending Tax Dollars. They want 50 billion dollars, when are we going to collectively stand together as Americans and stop this robbery; democrats & Republicans alike. We need to clean up this government and get rid of the people who have made a career out of their elected office...we now have a corrupt government and we know it. We want JUSTICE!

Amazing. I only thought the drug affected mostly Texas borders and places like TJ? I just drove my MS to Calif to visit friends and family for Thanksgiving and then drove to Algondones, MX to get some dental work. No problem. Tons of people coming and going to Mexico there. parking lot full and lots on cars coming back across the border. New to me Casino not far form the border? Tons of RV's nearby, I'm thinking of trying to get an RV lot somewhere in that area or torward Yuma, but not in Yuma? I have not heard of problems, have I not paid attention or what? I am 70 yo man and would like to live there somwehere and is that not a good idea?

I drive the 8 on a regular basis to California and Arizona once a month. It is completely safe I have never seen any suspicious activity, just a beautiful drive and in my opinion safer and wy easy to drive than the 10.

Drove on 8 yesterday, April 10, from San Diego to Tucson.  Saw a number of Border Patrol vehicles along the drive, but no suspicious activity.  Drove by one closed Border Patrol checkpoint, and were waved on through without stopping through another which was manned by agents.  Saw numerous Rvs in the desert area with Border Patrol vehicles next to them, as well as newly constructed restroom "units" which we assume are for the agents.  Stopped off to get a pic by one of the many cactuses in the area, and saw many broken beer bottles and litter on the ground.  The terrain is very beautiful, but the cloud of what is happening here is always looming above.  When we arrived at our resort in Tucson, we were told the drug smugglers have many lookout points in the mountains, and come out at night to carry out their activities. The resort we are staying at has a wall around it, that I believe was recently constructed.  We are not leaving the resort, and were also told to stay away from south Tucson because as "whites" we would not be welcome there.  In addition, we were told that there are actually water "towers" out there for illegals.  I agree with the human element of all of this - to not deny people the chance to live and work in our great country, but it must be done with fairness to our existing citizens.  Business owners, in the name of greed, must be held accountable when knowingly hiring illegals.  If there are no jobs to go to, then the motive to come is diminished.  If they are legal citizens, then all the rights our great country was founded upon can be extended to them as well, lifting them up as people and empowering them to work and earn a living in our land of opportunity.  But the weakness of our politicians, driven by time lost to pleasing some and knowlingly not having the integrity for standing up for what they know is right, is leading us to destruction and those also mislead by greed and power are laughing at us in the process.
