Norco Votes to Support Arizon'a Immigration Laws - Norco, CA
Norco City Council passed in favor of a resolution supporting Arizona's immigration laws with a 4-0 vote, to use E-Verify for city business.
Mayor pro tem Berwin Hanna spoke at the City Council meeting on Wednesday August 4th, along with other immigration law supporters, in Norco.
Norco City is considering an ordinance that would require contractors providing services or products for the city to use E-Verify. The Internet-based system is run by the federal government and allows employers to check workers' information against immigration and Social Security records.
The city already uses E-Verify to check the immigration status of new employees.
Other Inland cities like Lake Elsinore and Hemet have passed similar ordinances.
Many Norco residences rallied at Norco City Hall during the meeting. They also have displayed an online presence through Facebook at Stand With Arizona (and Against Illegal Immigration) and on the Craigslist classified website as well.
