What Realtors around the world wear~

While perusing AR this this AM I came across a gentleman with a hat on his head.  Now this wasn't just any hat, this was a cowboy hat and of course, this Realtor was from TEXAS!

(this is actually a picture of my dad with a hat on, very Kenny Rogersish, eh?)

I ran the different cities & states through my mind & pictured various folks in their day to day lives in their state specific "uniform".

Have you done this? Well, you should, in Texas for the ladies it's capri pants with open toed shoes, all day, everyday.....

I mean seriously, we have days in excess of 100 degrees, it's IMPERATIVE you stay hydrated & COOL!  It would be quite a shame for the buyer to say "I'll take this one, let's write it up" just as your head is hitting the ground as you pass out from a heat stroke because you quite simply have too many clothes on!

BTW, I haven't seen many Texas Realtor's with cowboy hats on showing homes so if you have that perception of us, knock it off!

I've had the pleasure of meeting a few & being around the Realtor's in Port Aransas, Texas as well....nice looking shorts with nice shirts, comfy, casual, COOL & professional, hey, they are selling vacation homes, why can't they LOOK like they are on vacation as well?  I say go for it!

Now, let me go a tad further, as far as Bermuda, i've ran across the Realtor's there, shorts with (OH MY GOODNESS!) SOCKS!  Weather appropriate?  Sure,  Cool?  Definitely, Trendy?  Well, I don't know.

While at a recent conference in Chicago I noticed the Realtor's there were in suits, very professional, very serious & very nice, not for me though.  If we wore suits in Texas to conduct Real Estate everyday it would be a mess, trust me.  If your day was spent showing homes in that suit, it would be a catastrophe in the middle of July, take my word for it.

I'm really curious though, what's your Real Estate uniform?

Texas' heat can be unbearable....I dress as loose & comfortable as possible.  Nice picture of your Dad.  My Dad like to wear a  cowboy hat too, even though he's not a cowboy!

It varies here in Ohio, some do the spiffy thing with jackets/ties.  Not my thing.  Typically khaki Dockers, slip on shoes for taking on and off easily, and a polo shirt of some sort, rarely with a RE/MAX logo.

Liz often wears the long sleeve white button up shirt with RE/MAX logo paired with nice jeans.

It works for us!

California can be pretty casual, but for the most part, I think most people dress for the task and the client.  If going to walk a 5-acre horse property, probably not gonna wear a suit and high heels, more like jeans and boots/tennies.

I'm more casual in the summer but always professional.  The rest of the year I tend to dress up a bit more because it isn't so hot outside.

OMG!!! I can't even imagine wearing a suit in Houston in July!!!  I wear skorts and polos T's and of course in the summer eau de  Deep Woods "Off" as I'm out in the yard in order to get it all onto the drawing.  The collar on the polo shirt is more "dressed up" (hee hee) than a regular t-shirt and since I have a lanyard around my neck holding my laser measurer -- it keeps my neck from being chafed. But a suit ... nope... that ain't gonna happen.

We're middle of the road in Ohio, at least I think so. In the fall and winter, it's dress pants for me with a nice sweater or blouse and jacket. In the summer it's either capris and a nice sleeveless blouse or lightweight pants and the same sleeveless blouse. I am not a suit person so that answers that:)

Hi Kristin ~ Fun topic! Dress is pretty casual in my neck of the woods - sometimes too casual but that's another post!  I wore a dress my first two days in my office and haven't worn one since.  Generally Dockers or something similar and some sort of top. I'm not into fashion though many are in my office.

Today I'm in running shorts and flip flops and working from home......if I have to venture out I'll put on something else, but it will be casual and comfortable.  I can't stand the thought of a suit in this heat!

Love the photo of your Dad in his hat.  My "Daddy" always wore a hat like this just like every other Texas man back in the day.

As you know San Antonio is a very casual city so I dress casually & comfortably.  I hate admitting this but if I expect to do a lot of walking, I have to wear tennis shoes since I have osteoarthritis in one hip joint.  It can be torture if I aggravate it.
