I am going through a Leadership Summit with Willow Creek Church in South Barrington IL these couple of days. Willow Creek church is the 2nd largest church in the world and its lead pastor is Bill Hybels - a well-known and highly respectable leader in the Church ministries.

Through this vision, Bill wanted to reunite the local churches to do more for its community. Hence, this Global Leadership Summit.

In his message, Bill Hybels shared about how he brought CHANGE to his church.

He talked about taking his congregation from "HERE" to "THERE". But constantly feels that there is "RESISTANCE" because people are comfortable, safe and secure in the "HERE". They didn't want to be "THERE".

It was only after he introduced the PAIN, HURT, STRUGGLE and NEGATIVITY of remaining HERE, that the people decided to go THERE. And that was also the reason why they cannot remain HERE.

I thought it was such a BRILLIANT concept of the CHANGE INTRODUCTION to any organization.

As the blogger at heart that I am, I always find ways to reconnect back to my real estate business and my blogging tenacity. Now, this is where I start and where you could apply:

Back in 2008, everyone finally began hearing about BLOGGING and how it brings BUSINESS. So, every real estate professionals want to jump on the band wagon. Like any other efforts worth doing in and for the business, BLOGGING takes TIME.

Just like a website, even if you have a blog, that doesn't mean people will start calling you. You must know what you are doing, how to write, inject your personal style into it and you must create a following. And guess what? Blogging works, but it's not an overnight wonder. Just because you have been blogging here for 3 months, or 12 months don't mean that your phone will begin to ring.

This is just a very long way for me to tell you that this BLOGGING thing takes TIME. But if you stick with it long enough, it will work.

I have been blogging for over 3 1/2 years now. In November, it will be 4. I blog daily. I comment daily and I interact with people here in the Rain. Active Rain is part of my business/ social DNA now. There's no turning back.

BLOGGING takes COMMITMENT, DISCIPLINE, PERSEVERANCE and TENACITY. I imagine myself as a marathon runner instead of a sprinter when it comes to BLOGGING. From HERE (you begin your journey) to THERE (where you constantly get phone calls for your blogging efforts).

During the Leadership Conference, Bill Hybels mentioned about FALL OUT. It's usually not at the Beginning (HERE) because you are excited, pumped and you are gainning momentum. It's also usually not at the END where you can typically see the Light at the End of the Tunnel. The most difficult part of the JOURNEY is in the MIDDLE. There is the biggest TENDENCY to FALL OUT. That's where you constantly blog but get no comments. Your phone doesn't ring. You wonder if you are wasting your time. Could you be better off somewhere else, working on other phone ringing method?

So, here's what Bill Hybels taught about FALL OUT.

You make some little mile markers for yourself and celebrate them.

You've read them here on Active Rain. People write about their first 10K points. They write about their journey to their first 100K points. They write about their 100th Comment. These are all MILE MARKERS on your journey THERE. CELEBRATE them.

I imagine climbing a MOUNTAIN. It is an overwhelming task. But if I look at the MOUNTAIN making up of LITTLE HILLS, then the journey is not so bad. It's the same with BLOGGING. At the end of each small accomplishment, find something to celebrate.

Life in itself is TOUGH if you not celebrate small accomplishments along the way. Same goes for BLOGGING.

So, with this, I am CELEBRATING my 1000th SUBSCRIBER to my blog.

The 1000th Subsciber is Ingrid Johnson. So happen, Ingrid is new to Active Rain. I'm going to take Ingrid under my Active Rain wings to offer any help to succeed blogging here on Active Rain.
Ingrid, if you read this, just know that I will be calling you next week. My invitaion is open for you
(as well as other Active Rain members who want to learn).

My next journey, someday make it into the Top 10 Most Subscribed Blog. This will be a good Mile Marker for me. I don't know how long it's going to take me to get there but with one post at a time, I will.

The only Mile Marker post I may point you to is my 400K Point post. I talked about how much 400K points was worth to me in Dollars. I wrote that post in September 2009. It was indeed a great post. Since then, I've gained another 200K points, which means it's worth more to me at almost 650K points.

BLOGGING? You betcha!

But celebrate the Mile Markers on the way too!!!!
