Member Cards For What ?

I really, really do not like member cards for more than one reason.

One of the reasons is that my wallet is getting bigger and bigger and my key chain could be heavier and heavier. I could be like a maintenance guy with a chain with a hundred little plastic member cards on it.

Jacoby CatFew years ago I was shopping at one of the big pet stores and I had to make a card. I went to that same looking store ... oops it was a competitor. I had to sign up for another card, because the lady at the register was not allowed to use her card. Finally I found the pet store with great prices with no member or discount cards. I was so happy! Now I can get rid of those two other cards that are driving me crazy. Pet Supplies on Harlem and Dempster in Morton Grove was the store in this example. Recently they decided to track their customers and waste money on plastic, and our time to sign up for yet another card. Will they raise the prices so they can give us a discount? Will they raise the prices so they can print more coupons and advertise more offers? I hope there is a mom and pop pet store nearby with no plastic. Maybe a punch card for the 10th item free; not even a punch card, someone that can remember my name would be enough after seeing me at the same location for the 100th time.

On the other hand, I was glad to have a card in the other state. I saved someone $25 on a bigger item.

The funny thing is that a few of the local chain stores employees are so kind to use the coupons and the member card they keep by the register.

Do we need any of these cards?

I'm pretty sure we do not buy everything at the same place. We know where to get the best and the most for the buck; at least we'd like to think so.

The closest pharmacy to me is now selling beer and wine. They should add tires and gas while they are at it... That's for another blog.

You can send me 100 cards and 1000 coupons but I'm not married to you. Should I carry a bigger wallet or start using a man purse .. oops a satchel.  Your cards and coupons are not making me loyal.

My two virtual cents on member cards.

I agree those loyalty cards are a pain.  I have a separate coin purse that I carry them all in and its getting full, have to start a new one.

Haris:  Totally agree ... they are aggrevating.  But, sometimes worth it, especially if you use the store often.  I will take aggrevation if the savings are big enough.  Otherwise ... no.

Missed you Thursday night at the get-together!  We'll catch you next time ...
