Can anyone help with a question?

I have an association attached to my profile of someone I don't know...can anyone tell me a little about how the associations work?  I am still pretty new to active rain.  Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Active Rain, Roseann.

There are two ways of keeping abreast of others posts. The first, Associations was originally designed so that people could read the posts of people that they liked to read. As this site grew larger, a second way was added, Subscribe. This way you could subscribe to blogs of people you liked to read, but not necessarily add them as an associate. Perhaps that person thought they would like to read your blogs and and added you as an associate. You could email them and ask. Some people just add everyone in their area as associates. It's nothing to worry about, unless you don't want to be associated with them. If that is the case, go into the Associations and check off the box at the right to block them.

When you start adding associates of your own, they will show up on the left hand side. Hope this did not confuse you more.
