Seller contacting buyers agent directly for feedback

I had an interesting phone call the other day.  Or should I say 6 phone calls.  I left my phone in the charger for a few hours when I checked the call log, I had 4 missed phone calls from a number I didn't recognize.  Usually when you have multiple calls like that, the first thing I think of is that something is WRONG with my kids.  But, they were all with me and seemed to be alright:)

So I googled the number and found out that it belonged to the address of a house I had showed the previous evening.  Huh??  My first thougt was that I'd left the door unlocked, left a light on in the house or had accidently let an indoor animal outside.  During the process of googling the number and calling the listing agent, I had two more missed calls from this number.

The listing agent gave me a call back and told me the seller was contacting me because she wanted some feedback on the showing!!  Pretty shocking to me and to the listing agent as well I believe.  I always try to leave feedback as soon as I can, but it had only been 15 hours and I was asleep for 8!

We all know the importance of providing solid feedback on our showings.  We know that to the sellers, providing information is cruical.  I really would have provided it that day, I promise!

Has anyone else had a similar situation?

I had a seller call me for feedback after I showed it to my buyer clients, too.  The seller was just IRATE with her agent - never called, never got feedback, etc etc.  I called the other agent and gave my feedback.

I didn't do anything wrong, but I felt funny- I don't mess with other people's clients!!

I always, always call back when asked for feedback by an agent.  I even developed a signature in Outlook I can just change to and send the feedback form to another agent.

But I've only be contacted one time directly by the seller about my feedback and I gave it!  Didn't know at the time it was a no no so now I'd just politely let the seller know I'll be happy to call their agent and deliver it.

This is such a pet peeve with me!  I get maybe a 50% response rate back on feedback I ask (beg) for.

I don't have a great response rate from agents returning my calls and begging for feedback.  I do have one client that has taken it on herself to call and ask for feedback.  I did have one agent get rather upset with me because my client called for the feedback.

Hi Jennifer:  I rarely have other agent's sellers call me directly for feedback, but, then again, rarely do they know just who showed their home.  Our agents here get real squirrely if an agent leaves her card on the kitchen counter-top of a home she has just shown.  I think the agent who got all upset was probably very insecure, and somewhat paranoid, too.  It sounds to me like you did the right thing.
