The rational mind can’t get it done.

Larry definitely has a "way with words".  In this post he presents a clear reminder of some the precepts from "The Secret", and it is definitely worth reading.  I hope you're inspired, as I was.

There is a belief that you can think your way out of any circumstance and this is just not true. Granted your rational mind is an invaluable tool to live a life, but it is not the way you can control your destiny. A rational mind said the world was flat, man couldn’t fly, we cannot travel to the moon and back. The rational mind was not able to cure cancer, or create the internet (no matter what Al Gore has said). The rational mind allows you to gather information and store it for later use. It allows you to remember your wife’s name and where you live. It allows you to go to work everyday and finish rational tasks, but that is not really controlling circumstances, that is living with them.

Circumstances like our economy, lack of jobs, policing areas in the world that are not our own are being approached with great rational minds that just seem to not be getting the job done. I ask, so how is it going?

tas_daz_flickrI think it is time to step away from the rational mind and move into the feeling mind, the emotional mind, the part of the brain that controls your feelings and delivers your results. Take all your rational knowledge and ask yourself, “Am I getting what I want?” If your answer is no, or you are just ambivalent about this question it is time for you to stop relying on your rational approach and begin to feel your way to your success. By feeling your way to success I mean get a clear and colorful picture of what you want—today. Get that picture so vibrant in your head that each action you take today is with the understanding that you already have what you want—it is yours! At the end of the day you may or may not have attained what you wanted, but your darn sure got closer to it than you would with your rational mind scoring you against past events and predicting your future from that perspective. There are times in your life you have to turn off the rational mind and grow through your feelings and desires. Give it a try today and let me know how you are doing? I will do the same.

Mike, good reblog. I have audio books I used to listen to all the time about creating a positive life around me. I need to dig them out and listen again and again, thank you for the reminder!!!

"I listen for a living." It's all about you.

Mike, as always thank you for the repost.  I am working hard to understand this career and to share what I am learning.  I think the next couple of weeks with me studying each of the major national brands, Keller Williams, Coldwell Banker, EXIT, RE/MAX, and some others should be interesting reading.  I am looking to share the benefits and values of each and to be able to describe the "kool aid" you have to drink while working in one of these national brand agencies.

Hi Mike!
A lot of people think of me as a dreamer....I want to believe that things happen for a reason and the results will be better than what I had hoped.  This doesn't mean that I get what I want. Sometimes the results are not what I expected or wished for, but turn out better.  I am a true believe in the self-fulfilling prophecy.  You are what you believe you can be...good or bad.

Hi Andrea and thanks.  I don't know if you follow Larry, but he writes thoughtful, insightful posts.

You're welcome, Larry.  I think that's one reason many of us are here at AR - trying to learn more about the business.
