Do You Ever Feel Like Someone is Watching You?
Sally - Great pics, they look like they are up to a little mischief. Where is that building?
Sally, those are great photos! They just don't build cool things like that into buildings any more!
Thanks, Linda. This is the Southam building in Old Montreal. Interestingly, the building is being restored and converted into lofts. And yes, I agree, these guys are up to no good!
Tony - Thanks so much! I know, it's sad - I just hope that details like this are preserved so that they can be enjoyed for many more years.
Great photos Sally,
It looks like you took advantage of the Montreal architecture for these shots. It really is one of the best places to bring out the European feel in all of Canada....
Thanks, Sergio! I know that you have some great old buildings in Toronto, too. I especially love the gargoyle faces on old city hall. Of course, this all pales in comparison to Europe! I have a wonderful collection of gargoyle photos from Notre Dame in Paris.
Why are these creepy little guys always naked? They seem to crouch a lot too!
Yikes...that's a little creepy. It looks pretty big too. Interesting how some buildings have such ornaments and statues built in...more so on the older buildings than the new ones.
Sharon - Ha! So true - you just want to knit little sweaters and pants for them, don't you? Yes, well, I guess crouching is a prerequisite for a gargoyle - they do have to fit into tight corners of buildings...
Hi John -Actually the gargoyles were pretty big, although they were dwarfed by these human/Egyptian forms just above them. Crazy, huh?
Patricia - That's exactly what they were created for in pagan times - to ward off evil spirits. That's why you often find them on the exterior of churches - to keep the evil spirits from entering the church. They truly have a face that only their mother could love!
Hi Sally, someone has a love for picture taking and it shows. Have a great start into the week.
I agree with everyone that these guys look a little creepy. It is interesting to look at.
Barbara - I do love taking photos - just wish I had a better camera - hmmm, maybe for Christmas... You have a great week, too.
Diane - They really are funny creatures, and I swear it feels like they're watching you as you walk down the side walk.
Juli - I like that - "weird but interesting" - kind of says it all! Certainly a far cry from Adobe style...
Oh my, that is just downright creepy! I think I'd steer clear of that place!
Carissa - Ha! I don't know... they're starting to grow on my...
Joshua - Faces only a mother could love!
