Does anyone use the search bar anymore?

It can be challenging to come up with something new to write about in a world of real estate professionals. (Maybe that is why reblogging seems so popular).

Active Rain has a very productive search bar. If we use it, we may avoid publishing a post very similar to someone else's; or find an opportunity to reblog a similar post with personal comments. (Take care not to lose your own "voice" by reblogging too much.)

Using the search bar also gives us the opportunity to comment on older posts that may deserve new life. Reading posts at Active Rain regarding your intended topic may inspire you and possibly open your eyes to information you had not considered.

I have it installed, but rarely use it.  In fact I don't have it load with Firefox, it's there, just hidden.

Maybe it's time I took a second look at it.

Thanks!

Suzi - unfortunately yes - I have it installed and use it - too regularily!  I find the posts from "way back" and of course, I have to read every comment.  I'm sure glad that I rarely watch television - something would have to go!  It's an awesome tool .... thanks for asking.

I use the search button, but never the search bar. Didn't know we had one.

Scott and Jack, thanks for commenting. Actually whichever search "thingy" works. I was actually referring to the search function located in the top red active rain home page bar...??? Anyway, a search is a search and provides the same rewards. Jack, I empathize. I can't tell you how many times I thought I was going to write and ended up reading and commenting. Actually, I guess I learn more reading than writing:-)

Suzi, use the search all the time.  I'm a little embarrassed to say that lately I've discovered the "channels" function and been poking around in there.

I would think, your specialty with HUD would have a multitude of great topics...Archives are always fun but often dated.

Paul, you are right about archives. My problem with researching what has already been written is that I get distracted. However, it is fun when using an ordinary search engine to find AR posts while not specifically looking for AR posts. HUD Homes, hmmm. My most recent personal viewings made me wonder what planet they were on in pricing.

Charlie, It is alway nice to hear from you.

Naturally I did not have any of you guys in mind when I wrote this short post. I was actually wondering about some recent posts and wondered how many times we will see the same subjects covered over and over again. Of course this rarely happens with Localism, and rarely with experienced members. I think some of the (yawn) repetitiveness of some posts also comes from -reblogging-.

I hope to see more first and personally written blogs.

Suzi - using the search function could be a little better if you were able to filter your search easier but it is still a great tool for the use you put it to.

I have a google bias, so I use the google search bar and click it to 'search site' quite often when I'm looking for something specific that I believe is on a particular web site. It works wonderfully.  It's amazing how much info resides on a site that is not easily accessible. I use it most often on municipal web sites where a link has been taken down, but the original info is still present.
