Who Are the Top Employers in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois

Whether you live here now and are seeking employment or will be relocating here soon to begin the job search, one good place to start looking for inspiration for your next career move is a list of top employers in Champaign-Urbana.

This list is in order by how many employees each business has, and while these numbers do change over the years, this list should be reasonably accurate. Now that I've made my disclaimer, let's begin!

Number One: The University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana

Big surprise, right? (insert sarcasm.) The University of Illinois here in Champaign-Urbana employs well over 13,000 people, thereby taking first place by a landslide.

Number Two: Carle Foundation Hospital

Carle Clinic Association and Carle Foundation Hospital used to take 2nd and 3rd place respectively for the total number of employees here in this area. Recently, however, they merged under the heading of Carle Foundation Hospital and now have a solid 2nd place with over 5,000 employees.

Number Three: Let's call this one a tie.

The numbers here are pretty close, so we'll say Champaign Unit #4 School District and Kraft Foods tie for third place, each with around 1,300 employees.

Other major employers in Champaign-Urbana include:

Provena Medical Center, Parkland College, Christie Clinic, Urbana School District #116, and the City of Champaign.

Naturally, there are many, many other employers in Champaign-Urbana, so if you're not looking for a job related to education or medicine (did you notice the trend?) don't worry. Champaign-Urbana has much more to offer.

One place I always had luck finding a job was through Express Employment Professionals. Often times what you'll find with them is temporary positions, but those jobs can turn into full-time positions if you're patient and do good work (I am proof of this). If I were currently looking for a job, I wouldn't hesitate to go over and talk with them.
