To Buy or Not To Buy....That is the question...

About two months ago, one of my dear customers informed me that her sister-in-law was planning on moving to Florida.  Finally, her sister-in-law visited Florida for the first time last month.  The called me on the night she came into town and told me she would like to start looking at some properties the next day.  I took her around to see a total of five properties.  She was seriously interested in two of those properties.  However, she was not 100% ready to purchase at that time.  However, her sister-in-law wanted her to sign a contract right away.

I was able to talk to her privately, away from her sister-in-law and found out that mainly it was her sister-in-law's idea for her to do so.  I told her if she's not comfortable in moving here, she should not do so because she will regret it later and that the decision to move was totally up to her.  Like with any major move, you have to make that decision on your own. I assure her that by no means am I here to pressure her into making any hasty decision.  She explain to me that she had plan on retiring in Maryland where she's from.  However, she pointed out too that after visiting Central Florida, her view of Florida has changed.  She thought it was all about swamps, snakes and crocodiles, etc.  I assured her that since I've been here for the past 11 years, I've seen them but as long as you don't bother them, you'll it will be fine.

To make a long story short, she thank me for my time and said she needed some more time to make up her mind and I let her know that when she's ready, she should give me a call.  Well, she called me last night to say that she was ready to  move forward in purchasing a home here and wanted to know if one of those homes that she had looked at is still available.  After checking on it, I'm glad to say that it's still available!

I'm glad that I did not try to just sell her on Central Florida which is a wonderful place to live or just try to make a quick sale.  I left the final decision up to her because I do live in the community and there could be nothing worst than a disgruntled customer (I've not met one yet and hope I never have to).  In the end, it worked out well.  She will be putting her townhome in Maryland on the market in March and I'm glad that I was able to help her in hopefully purchasing her next home here in Florida - just one block from her sister-in-law!
