600 Red Leaf Way Canton, GA 30114 is being offered by Sandy Pluris with Keller Williams Realty Platinum Partners (770)378-0502.  Real Estate Photography by Iran Watson.

This project was a real pleasure to shoot.  This is a custom built home in the Little Bear community in Canton, GA.  The owner spared no expense in making this a very unique and appealing home.  This was a really private lot in a developing community and a good example of why people move to this area.

We arrived at about noon so I knew there were going to be some challenges as far as lighting was concerned.  Lots of bracketing on this shoot, but I wanted the viewer to be able to see out of the windows.  Every room in this house had a decent view as the exterior was well kept and expansive.  It really is nice to photograph a home without having to recompose everything as not not include or minimize adjacent houses.

Great photos.  I'm not the only one who has problems with highly polished wood floors and window glare.  Got any ideas?

Thanks for the comments.  There are a couple ways to deal with the glare, but it takes more time than I had on this particular shoot.  Probably the simplest way is to go with a very high shutter speed and use a strobe to light up the room.  This will produce a very 'flashy' looking image, but the intention is to layer it in photoshop with the original.  Doing this you will probably only end up using the floor from the image anyway.  Using the selector tool, select the floor, feather, inverse, cut and then use the opacity slider to fine tune it.

You can also use a circular polarizer filter but this will only lessen the effect and because it bumps the exposure down of the rest of the image you will have to compensate.  You can also block out the light coming from the window with something like a roll of black felt but that method will also require some photoshop work.  Finally, you can always clone it out, but again more time and photoshop skill is required.

In the detail shot of the kitchen, I completely rebuilt the top of the island by cloning and stretching the parts that did not have glare.  It took me a good 15 minutes to get it to look like it does in the photo above.  The alternative (nuclear white glare) was just unacceptable.

Keep in mind with most of these techniques, the camera most remain absolutely still.  If it moves even a hair between shots the frames may not align properly resulting in a fuzzy or ghosted image.

Hello Iran, This is some of the best real estate photography shown here in the Rain and probably better than that. I am planning something that you might be interested in. I will send you an e-mail and tell you abut it. In the mean time, I am going to suggest  this post because I think it represents pure excellence in quality real estate photography.
