365 things to do in Worcester county - Lake Dennison in Winchendon is my pick for a great get away for a day, a week or even longer. Located in the heart of Northern Worcester County, Lake Dennison offers a public beach and two campgrounds, Otter River and Lake Dennison.
Lake Dennison is sprawled on the shores of an 85 acre lake. The park offers swimming, fishing and a boat ramp for canoes and other non-power boats. The park also offers 50 miles of mountain biking trails in the adjacent Birch Hill Wildlife Management Area.
So, what can you do on this scenic camp ground? Well here is the list: include restrooms and showers, you can go boating, fishing, snow mobile, swimming, camping, biking, and hiking. Animals are allowed on the leash. When I was there last, I had to bring a rabies certificate. No, not for me, for the dog.
In 2010, MA State Parks prohibit the transportation of firewood into or out of MA State Park Campground facilities. Firewood will be available at the campground for a donation of $5.00 per bundle. Isn't that nice? Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in all Massachusetts State Parks and Campgrounds.
Because not all sites are created equal here, prime real estate goes fast. And I know, I am a real estate agent. So my recommendation is book early and online. However, you can only book up to 6 months in advance. So a savvy camper is on her computer in January if she wants to relax on the fourth of July, like my smart and prepared sister in law.
Here are a few rules to follow when camping at Lake Dennison:
There are no hook ups for RVs at the campgrounds, but here is the good news, the sites are only $8.00 per night. This is definitely one of the best deals in town and my pick for 365 things to do in Worcester County - Lake Dennison Winchendon.
