BAMBOO FENCES IN KINGSTON ONTARIO - by Jimmy Dean

Looking to replace a fence?  Perhaps you're in need of a new privacy fence ?  You should consider bamboo fencing.  Not only is bamboo fencing aesthetically pleasing; it is also a great green alternative to using conventional hardwood fencing.

Jimmy Dean of Kingston, On, 613 483 3919 just created a gorgeous fence on the corner of Helen and Brock St, Kingston.

Bamboo is one of the most easily renewable natural resources on the planet, and as sturdy as (and sometimes sturdier than) most hardwoods. Bamboo forests grow at a very rapid pace, as bamboo is actually a type of grass. If you need to replace your old fence and are considering bamboo fencing, here are a few more things to consider.

You can use them vertically or horizontally as the above photo shows. (not Jimmy's)

Types of Bamboo Fencing

There are several different kinds of bamboo fencing. The one you choose will depend on the look you want and how much you want to spend. Bamboo fencing usually comes in either rolls or panels. These roles/panels are made of bamboo poles about 1" in diameter or ½" inches in diameter held together with stainless-steel, galvanized wire.

Jimmy Dean used rolls for this job.

You can also get woven bamboo fencing, which is made with thinner and smaller bamboo canes. Another option is split bamboo fencing, which is made with the outer surface of a bamboo cane. Both woven and split-bamboo fencing are also held together in rolls or panels with galvanized wire.

Aside from aesthetics, you should consider the durability of the type of fencing you chose. Fencing rolls and panels of bamboo poles and canes can last around 20 years, while split or woven bamboo fencing only lasts around 10 years.

This is a great alternative to take advantage of if you're in need of a fence.  Make sure you give Jimmy Dean a call for a quote or some creative ideas 613 483 3919   Jimmy also does fantastic reno work so give him a call.

Susan,

It looks like you can have complete privacy. The problem with a pressure treated wooden fence is that it shrinks.
