We have a huge corn festival here as the region I live in is famous for its corn (Taber Corn) but this year has been a disaster.  Heavy rains flooded the fields and the crop will be very late and very small this year.  It is sad because it is something we so look forward to.

The title caught my attention. We lived in Minnesota while my wife was in anesthesia school and I will always remember the incredibly delicious corn that was available this time of year!

Robert - Sorry to hear of the bad crops... Some days I feel as though we might float away!

Marjorie- YUM! Those all sound like great festivals!

Russell - We tend to freeze it until we run out of room... :) We are headed to MN next week for training... Great State!

We have planted an acre behind our house this year and it is amazing!

I am from Burlington and now am a broker in La Quinta, California. I was just back there last month to visit my daughter and family in Ft. Madison. We had dinner at the bar in West Point- Mark Clemens the owner is a shirt tail relative and treated us to the best broasted chicken ever- $5 on Wed. nights with all the trimmings. I also had some of the delicious sweet corn while I was in Iowa. Looks like you have a good real estate market and economy there.

I just stumbled across this posting and now my mouth is watering!  It also brought back some great memories.  My grandmother lived in Chicago for MANY years and, every summer, when she would drive down to visit us in Louisiana, she would stop by a farm stand and load up on sweet corn.  We'd sit there, shucking our hearts out and enjoying that summer delicacy for days on end!  Mmmmmmm.....could sure use some now!

Give me a shout next summer and we'll send you some fresh corn... We usually have some planted! The best is in the dead of winter and you pull some out of the freezer. YUM! :) I'm serious with my offer too!
