COLOUR TRENDS ARE ABOUT TO CHANGE

Be daring, put your personality out there for all to see!

In the past, Canadians have shied away from bright vibrant colours for their living spaces, due to an uncertain economic and environmental climate, sticking with comforting neutrals like browns and beiges.

In 2010-2011, they are predicting a drastic change in that trend. Canadians are looking for a brighter future, and in doing so will be choosing livelier colours to reflect their optimism in their search for that future.

Colours such as deep reds and purples, vivid blues and greens, pastels such as baby blues and pinks, and earthy golds and clays will be among the new colours topping the list of next years palette.

These new trends for 2010-2011 will bring to light very different, and very unique and individual attitudes to home decoration.

I suggest avoiding those colours if planning on selling on your home, as one persons vibrant and exciting colour could be another persons shocking and gaudy colour.

Canada must have more colorful people than in the Dallas Texas area.  When it comes to home buyers, I am still seeing buyers preferences to paint over loud colors they observe in homes for sale.

I think that anybody buying a home will want to make it their own by painting and choosing the colors of choice.

I completely agree. I always thought it was best to paint neutral colours to appeal to a variety of home buyers. Neutral colours tend to "set the mood" of the home and make it more inviting thus, easier for the prospect to visualize living in the home.

I found it very interesting to read this article and that was the sole purpose of posting it. I do agree while one person might like loud and vibrant colours, another may not.

I would still stick to the neutral family for sure unless you are planning on staying in the home forever - or beware of your willingness to paint later on down the road.
