Google offers us some truly amazing technology, most of which is FREE! We get Gmail, Google Docs, Blogger, Picasa, and many, many more online products to help make us more productive - - and it's almost all Free! Gmail, for instance, gives us over 7Gb of free storage and provides what is probably the best spam filtering available anywhere.
Another truly amazing product they give away is Google Analytics. This tool not only tells us how many people have visited our website, but shows us where they're from, how long they were on our site, and which links they clicked. Plus, it tells us what browser on which operating system they were using AND what the resolution of their monitor was - Incredible!
So, that brings up this "burning" question: "Considering what CAN be done, why does it seem to be impossible to stop these spammers, scammers, and viruses?"
Surely, with the amazing technology available today, you could track these
people, send a million volt pulse back down the line to them, leaving their computer in a smoking, molten heap of metal and plastic - - and then prosecute, fine, and put them away for awhile!
Oh, I know - they use anonymizer technologies to make it difficult to track them, but does that make it impossible? And surely not ALL of them are savvy enough to pull that off. But, maybe - just maybe, if we made some serious examples of the ones who are catchable, some of the others might get the hint!
Spam and viruses are not a cute internet trick that shows off their technological prowess. They are no longer mere annoyances that cost us lots and lots of time and money. This stuff is really starting to Pi** us off! So, how about using some of our tax dollars to stop this nonsense!
Sincerely,
Mad as Hell and Ready to do something about it!
