Inman Real Estate Connect, San Francisco 2010; Ed Kohler discusses what’s happening with technology, blogging and the internet, also, what challenges we now face on the internet, along with what is needed to keep up with an online presence.

Mark Eibner: Ed what’s going on I know you tell me what’s going on in your Inman where were you, what do you think is happening?

Ed Kohler: Well I think is happening I think its interesting to see that you know like a couple of years ago they kept acting about how blogging was a thing here and that was going to be huge.

Mark Eibner: Yeah.

Ed Kohler: I think this year we have now figured out there.

Mark Eibner: Blogging still is huge.

Ed Kohler: Blogging is huge but…

Mark Eibner: But people are just too lazy.

Ed Kohler: Its huge for the people who have an act for it and who can write and we kind of reached the point where those people have been discovered and ones who are going to have some sense of it are having success with it but you know there are some people who are just not the right fit for them.

Mark Eibner: Right.

Ed Kohler: You know Twitter was the big thing last year and this year so far figure out what to do with Facebook has been big because Facebook continues to grow, grow, grow. So people are trying to figure out that something they need to pay attention to or not the ad service you know really not [Inaudible] you know what’s the best [Inaudible] there should they be focused their own networks of who they already know or should they be working and growing their networks what they already have that kind of stuff.

Mark Eibner: So how you think we are going to solve this problem?

Ed Kohler: I think probably on the biggest challenges people have online is they need to demonstrate their expertise because if someone contacts you they are going to look at you online and if there is just nothing there, there there is going to assume well there must be a problem in the same way that if you go to a dating website and someone has no information there well they must be hiding something so on those lines show that you actually know your community, that you care about your community you know and you have some expertise in it and you are going to have a lot more of those people that visit your website convert to these.

Mark Eibner: All right thanks Ed, Ed Kohler of “WhereToLive” and Technology Evangelist.
