When the Going Gets Tough...The Rough Get Going...

My business partner was out doing inspections yesterday and he was running in his usual 90 mph fashion. He popped out of his car, opened the house door and went through all 6 rooms photographing and checking on the status of the house. This took all of 5 minutes...it was a small house.

When he stepped back outside, he had quite a surprise...his 5 year old mini-van was gone. STOLEN...with 3 cameras, listing signs at $90/per and about $2000 worth of home improvement tools and his briefcase with his wallet and some asset files.

He failed to lock the doors and it only took a few short minutes for his van to go MIA.

In this economic client with so many people in financial trouble, crime is on the upswing. We all need to lock our doors every time we leave our cars, our homes, our offices. We need to pay attention to our surroundings and we need to not leave valuable items in our vehicle whenever possible. We can't make it easier to become a target for crime.

Oh my.....you don't EVEN want to hear my opinion on this.  My kids don't think TWICED about leaving their cars unlocked, sometimes with the keys in them.  "oh mom, nobody will take it"....yeah right!  Too bad for your partner, hopefully he gets it back.

Yes Jean, in minutes, just minutes crime can strike. We all need to be more vigilant. Good luck getting your message through to your family.

Wow , how AWFUL!  I always worry about my car when I go into a home - I've heard a lot of horror stories.  I also worry about my car with me IN IT, so I be sure to lock the doors immediately after I get in.  Agents have a habit of looking at paperwork in their car, and can be an unfortunate target.  Thanks for sharing this story - you can never be too careful!
