The North Kingstown Bike Path in North Kingstown RI 02852 is being enjoyed by bikers, walkers and rollerbladers every day - I'm thinking it might be the 'Chinese Year of the Foot'! A 2.5 mile paved 2 lane path that was funded by the Quonset Development Corporation and RI Department of Transportation goes from Post Road and delivers you to Narragansett Bay at the pastoral Calf Pasture Beach (note this is one of my favorite beaches on Narragansett Bay).
It's a wonderful meandering and winding bike path with benches along the way as you travel the North Kingstown Bike Path. If you are to start from the beginning location, you can pull into the Dave's Marketplace Plaza and there you will find plenty of parking. Once you've set up your bike or laced up your sneakers you are off on a wonderful hour journey to Allen's Harbor and Calf Pasture Beach. You might even want to bring a backpack for a picnic lunch on the beach.
At present, the Calf Pasture Beach (next to the little seaside cottage community of Mount View) does not have a fully completed paved lane to the beach. It actually gets a little bumpy after the 2.5 mile path because it becomes an old Seabee road that was abandoned years ago. There are plans to totally complete & update this part of the road in the near future but the end of the North Kingstown Bike Path is still very passable.
So don't wonder what you are going to do this weekend just pack the kids up and enjoy a couple hours on the bike path (oh, dogs are allowed on leashes)...friends or family it's a good excursion destination that's absolutely FREE! I try to put in my miles weekly on this walking path with friends along with the ipod & earbuds - it's a great walk. The North Kingstown Bike Path North Kingstown RI 02852 is a walking, riding and running destination for all ages.
