365 things to do in worcester county - Holden Gale Free Library Concert - I had an opportunity to catch up with Deborah and get some fun information about her upcomming venue. She told me that she is really excited about her concert at the Holden Library is next Thursday, Aug. 19th 6-7 pm. The concert is to Benefit the Gale free Library and the concert is planned to be outside, so let's hope for some good weather.
The Duo, Chas and Deb love Country, Blues, Pop and Rock. They will be preforming hits from Dillan, Beatles and other rock starts. If you enjoy their concert at the Gale Free Library in Holden, please feel free to come and see them again at the Wachusett Greenways Rail Trail Celebration on Sept 25 at the Springdale Mill Site on the West Boylston portion of the beautiful rail trail, which is a wonderful community asset.
Deborah --- As my friend Ferron says, "If music be a boulder, let me carry it a long while." I grew up singing with my dad's country band, 'The Baercats,' in rural Pennsylvania. When I was about 12, Dad showed me a few guitar chords, and I spent the next few years locked in my room learning every Joan Baez and Dylan song out there. It was a little schizophrenic belting out Hank Williams, Connie Smith and the Louvin Brothers one night and Dylan and Joni the next. Early memories include Dad's musical cronies jamming on our patio on summer nights, with neighbors phoning in their requests. Dad's idea of family vacation was a drive to Nashvllle in the family station wagon. I feel really lucky to have run into Chas on the Rail Trail in West Boyston. I'd Initially hoped to steal his fiddle player, but as it turned out Chas and I really clicked instead. Another reason to love the Rail Trail. Chas is a dream come true for a singer like me. He can harmonize on just about anything and play killer guitar licks that fill in the spaces brilliantly. I really dig his enthusiasm and quiet power. There must be something in the water there in central Connecticut, where Chas grew up. The area has turned out more than it's share of fine song writers and players. ~~~~~~~~ Chas --- I'm a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter from West Boylston, MA. Growing up on 60's Rock-n-Roll in central Connecticut, I played bass and guitar in club and dance bands spanning 20 years before moving to Massachusetts in 1987. Since settling down in central Mass., I've enjoyed playing bluegrass, folk, country and blues with the Modern Drifters and the Lepage-Paddock band. Since meeting Deb at a rail trail gig, it's been back to the basics - strong vocals and tasty guitar in a simple two-guitar arrangement. I grew up singing harmony with my sisters. Deb's great lead vocal ability gives me the opportunity to go back to my first musical influences. ~~~~~~~~ The duo --- We love good songs that stand on their own, such as those written by Gary Burr, like Chas another Meriden, CT, boy. We've recorded one of our favorites by Gary, 'Explain it Away,' and you can listen on our MySpace page. We worship The Beatles and we love Claire Lynch, Alison, Emmylou, Roy, Hal Ketchum, Richard Thompson, Tim O'Brien and the Everlys, to name a few. ~~~~~~~~ Contact us at 508-751-1634 or deborah.mcdonnell@smithbarney.com |
