Tax Acessors Office

Just want to start out saying the courthouse tax records you pull off the computer are not always right or updated. Me & my husband bought a piece of property in January 2006 for my mother-in-law, and it is down the street from our home. On Friday a cop comes to the mother-in-laws house and he is looking for someone that had lived there before to serve a judgement on the property. I happened to be there, and the cop said the property was going to be auctioned on the courthouse steps square September 10. I told him there must be some mistake that we owned the property. So Monday morning I go to the attorney's office where we done the closing, and he said that we needed to go to the people that we bought it from. I told him I was not leaving there because he done title work and there was a problem. So anyway what happened is the person that lived there before had done a lease option, and in December 2005 it was terminated and never got recorded. So it was still showing that this person owned the property, and this could have been a big mess! So this was just LUCK that I happened to be there that day!
