But if you are unsure about the actual exposure....and what blog posts are getting that exposure. Check out your statistics on your home page!

This week I wrote a blog post Don't House Flippers Deserve A Profit? (shameless extra plug? don't need it :) and I have gotten a great response to this topic. This morning I decided to check my statistics on this post.

It's very interesting in about 24 hours this post has had 2178 viewers (click throughs).

These are people who have actually landed on the blog post and at least read the first sentence or two....hopefully they found it interesting enough to stay, but we don't really know that. I love being able to see this information. For one thing, I can see what blog titles create interest. In this case, the blog has shown up in the blog roll 2300 times and of those who saw the title and first couple sentences, 2178 have gone ahead and clicked on it.

That can really help me tailor the titles of future posts, create titles which draw in a reader. But it also shows me the power of Active Rain. It illustrates the value of the time and effort we put into our Active Rain blogs.

Karen-it is interesting to watch our stats on Active Rain.  Even more so when you see a post which has gotten a good deal of clicks but few comments.  I see this with Localism posts in particular.  Since I have outside comments turned off due to spam I would hope that is why my phone is ringing with prospective clients.  They read and call since they can't comment.

I like your point about the importance of titles, too. I have noticed that the more compelling a title, the better the statistics--something that I did not understand early on.

Karen - I keep forgetting about the statistics, I need to pay more attention to that! A good title can become the hardest part, but I know it is the most important. Thanks for reminding us!

That's a great result.  I need to craft my titles and first few sentences better.

I love being able to look at my statistics! I can see what has worked and what hasn't. I think if I am remembering correctly, click throughs are when someone has actually gone directly to the post and showed presence on the page. Views are how often the post has been seen in the group blog roll.
