Five Towns Long Island Golf COursesAs I sit here and try to figure out to blog about today, I notice my husband loading his golf clubs ino the trunk of his car.

Hmm - you don't have to whack me over the head with a golf club!

In and around Long Island's Five Towns Communities there are a wide array of both Private and Public Golf options.

Private Country Clubs - 18 Hole Courses

Inwood Country Club

It was the site of the 1921 PGA Championship, won by Walter Hagen, and the 1923 U.S. Open, where Bobby Jones captured his first major. More recently, Inwood has also hosted several metro area PGA championships. Since the mid-1990s the noted golf architect Tom Doak has been working with us to continuously improve our course. But more important than its storied history, the golf course is a challenging and immensely enjoyable course for members.

Woodmere Club

The Woodmere Club is a peaceful retreat far removed from the hectic pace of the 21st century, yet we're located just a short distance from New York City in Woodmere, Long Island. Best known for our magnificent 18 hole par 70 golf course, we represent a golfer's dream. The Woodmere Golf course is challenging for every caliber golfer.

Seawane Golf & Country Club
1 Club Drive, Hewlett, NY‎ - (516) 374-1110‎

The club has an extensively renovated 18 hole golf course, 8 tennis courts and a magnificent pool facility. The 13th and toughest hole on the course.  It has been rated one of the best holes in the metroplitan area.

Middle Bay Country Club‎

Their course is 6819 yds. from the back tees with. The middle tees are 6521 yds. and the forward tees 5489 yds..  Water comes into play on 8 holes, and strong bay winds can significantly affect 6 perimeter holes and influence all the holes. 

Lawrence Golf Club‎

It is a town club - but membership is required. The 18-hole "Lawrence Village" course at the Lawrence Village Country Club facility in Lawrence,
New York features 6,528 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 70 . The course rating is 72.0 and it has a slope rating of 129 on Rye grass. 


Public 18 Hole Golf Course

Lido Golf Course‎
255 Lido Boulevard, Lido Beach, NY‎ - (516) 889-8181‎

Right on the water this course is sculpted from land between the Atlantic Ocean and Reynolds Channel, Lido's traditional links style offers challenging play in the midst of breathtaking beauty. This championship caliber course stretches over 6,900 yards and plays to a par 72.

Public 9 Hole Courses

Bay Park Golf
First Avenue, East Rockaway, NY - (516) 571-7244
Bordered by the East Rockaway Channel on the east and Hewlett Bay on the south and west, Bay Park is a scenic 96-acre park located in the Southwest corner of Nassau County. The park has an executive-level 9-hole, par-30 golf course; the course is 1,956 yards

North Woodmere Park Golf

North Woodmere Park's course, located near the water in the southwest part of Nassau County, is a 150-acre park that provides an executive-level 9-hole, par-31, 2,282 yard golf course. Golfers enjoy the flat course for its ease of play and because it's easy to walk.. The park also offers a driving range.

I am not a member of, not am I endorsing any of these clubs. My husband greatly enjoys the public golf courses, and has enough variety in them to keep him going out weekend after weekend after weekend....
