Occupational Hazard…

Real Estate Agent with Century 21 Results Realty

There are a few occupational hazards we real estate agents face… moldy foreclosures, rotted floors that we can fall through, angry undisclosed dogs, getting locked out of a house on the back deck 40′ off the ground (don’t ask).  But there is something even more dangerous…

Houses we really like… really, really like.  Ones that we can afford…

As a real estate agent, I look at a lot of houses.  Some of them are amazingly cool.  But, I’m not dropping half a million bucks on a house.  Those aren’t so dangerous…  Not to say that I don’t love the media rooms, pubs on the terrace level and the 10 car garages… especially the 10 car garages… but those aren’t that dangerous, because they are out of MY operating range.

And then…

So, I was out checking out some new cool garage homes in Gwinnett County, and I ran across this one.  I shot a few videos to use in ‘discussions’ with my wife.  Seriously, I didn’t shoot these to show the world, just one person.

The problem is that we don’t want to change schools yet…  So, unless this house is hanging out on the market in 8 months, the best I can hope for is to find it a good owner.

Not bad for about $160k…

Yep, I once had a guy who clearly would have been very happy with a 5 car garage with a 1 bedroom house.  He actually settled for an 1100 sq.ft. 3 BR ranch with a 4 car garage (two cars wide, two cars deep).  Hey, some guys just NEED that garage!  Me, I'm looking for that kitchen with more cabinets than I can hope to use...

Interesting home.  Not sure I like that room open to the garage. Wonder about  fumes and gasoline smell traveling up in the home

Wow Lane, what a nice house for $160K!  That's at least a $300,000 to $400,000 house in my market place. (Depending on the neighbourhood)

That's an awesome garage for a "Car Guy".  I think I'd install a firepole off that balcony from the bonus room.  How much more fun would that be...getting to your garage directly from the master bedroom by sliding down a firepole. HA!

I hope you figure out a way to make it work!

Lane, it seems like contractors and car buffs want to see the garage or outbuilding first.  Also those who have horses want to see the barns and stables first, as the house is secondary.  Others may want to find a place to have their own privacy away from the kids or in-laws if applicable and they are more concerned about that.  We work with all levels and all kinds, but at least we work to make a happy home buyer and the sale to come to fruition to make it a win win for all concerned.

So how did Mrs. Bailey like it?  That's the real question. :-)

Very cool house though and I know you would make good use of the garage.

So Lane will your Bentley and your Lamborgene fit in there? All kidding aside, I had a client who had six cars and was planning on buying two more I could not convince him that he needed to build a larger garage not look for the elusive eight car garage home:)))

Amanda - How come some women just want to check out the kitchen and baths?  I bet I spend WAY more time in the garage than they do in bathroom... maybe even the kitchen for some...

Stan - That concerns me a little... but I would likely close it off with a window, and also have a movable partition in the garage to segment off the areas used for things that create dust and fumes.

Bob - She is softening... at this rate it might be the house after next...

Endre - Send him to me... I know a REALLY cool proerty where he would have a lot of room to grow the collection.
