Home sales started out weaker in Glen Carbon, Illinois in January 2010 year over year, but regained some pace to exceed 2009's closings in the month of February.
By March, 2010 sales slipped below 2009 figures again, and in April -- as expected -- 2010 home sales spiked in Glen Carbon as the in-contract deadline for the federal home buyer tax credit arrived at the end of the month.
After the tax credit expiration in April, home sales in Glen Carbon fell dramatically for the months of May and June compared to 2009. Home sales rebounded in July 2010 just exceeding 2009's sales for that month during what has traditionally been one of the busiest times of the year.
What should we expect for August and the remainder of the year? My crystal ball is broken, but if July is an indicator, we may see sales that continue to meet or exceed the previous year. I'll check back at the end of the month with August sales details.
