Questions on "How to Get Rained On"? Orlando 24th

RainCamp Orlando is the 24th of this month. I want to make the most of it since we have not seen many close enough for me to justify going to. I am hoping staff or members that have been before can answer a few questions.

The first thing I did was prepare my Blackberry. I was trying to keep it simple and not use any AR material that may be copyrighted. Since this is a technical group I figured I would start with the phone even though it will be off at the meeting. In the meantime, every time I use it I will be reminded of the 24th.

I am looking for the basics that will make it fun as well as a learning experience.

Do we go straight into the meeting or is there a "gathering" to meet introduce ourselves in the morning?

I realize we need material to write and take plenty of notes on. However, if we want the best experience to get "Rained" on, I would like to carry only what is necessary.

Storm heading to Orlando and the weather bureau has named it "RainCamp"!

In all honesty I would like advice from participants on what they found they would like to have had at RainCamp, not what they took.

Was there a need for a laptop?

I notice some people take their cameras.

Notepads?

Once you left the function what were the items you were glad you took and what were the items you did not have that you wished you had taken.

I want to carry the least amount of weight around during the day but want to make sure I have everything necessary to learn everything I can that will help me do the best job for my customers that I can once I return.

Looking forward to a major learning curve thanks to the Staff at AR.

Thanks for any advice.

You will be constantly reminded.  That's pretty neat to think in those terms.  Hope you thoroughly enjoy Raincamp.  I did.

Judi, what did you have with you and was there anything you didn't take that you wished you had?

Good morning Ted,

Many agents brought laptops to the RainCamp in LA.  I wish I had brought mine to view the different websites Ben Kinney was mentioning.

I also wish I had brought a camera to take some pix.  You never know.  You might be able to turn some of your pictures into new posts.

In LA, we went straight into the meeting.  Some people were getting together after RainCamp but I already had other plans made for that evening.

Have fun!  It's a lot of information.

Ted, I haven't been to a RainCamp but I'm sure it will be similar to other things I've been to with AR members. Many of us used our laptops to take notes and search the web during classes. You must take the camera so you can blog about how much you learned and who you met!!!

Connie, thanks. I see you are from Nashville. My wife's from there and just came back from visiting her mom. She lives in Bellemeade.

We had registration from 8 to 9, so that was an hour to meet and greet people, although most people went into the meeting room and watched the videos that Ben had going.

I took a computer, pen, paper, and my handy dandy Canon 550D. The computer was worthless because there was just too much going on up on stage with Ben and his presentation. I found it more useful simply to take pictures of whatever display I thought would be useful to me.

Go Platinums because the food for lunch was superb. Also make time to go to the social afterwards.
