Many people don't realize that San Diego not only has four seasons, but actually eight easily identified seasons:
- Summer (February through November)
- Winter (December and January)
- Tourist season (Memorial Day through Labor Day)
- Earthquake season (January through December)
- Drought season (February through November)
- Rain season (December and January)
- Mudslide season (December and January)
- Fire season (September through November)
That's right. We really do have a fire season, and it is rapidly approaching. Not only that, but experts (there are those experts again but no one ever names names) think that a La Niña weather pattern developing in the equatorial Pacific could cause San Diego to have a higher fire season. La Niñas in the Pacific tend to produce more high pressure systems over the southwestern United States, which result in high tenperatures, high winds, and more Santa Anas in San Diego.
