My Dad worked at the test site. I remember as a small child my parents discussing that his "badge" detected excessive amounts of radiation. They were discussing how this happened, wondering what could have caused this. My Dad has since passed away. He was quite the pack rat, I didn't find that a top quality, until now. He had every certificate of every place he work at NTS. Mr. Harry Reid has now gotten the attention of NIOSH to include NTS workers. Even if your loved one has passed, you may still receive the benefits as the heirs.
I never realized that the workers at NTS were actually heroes in war. The wars testing ground that is. They too gave their lives for our freedom. They have gone unrecognized and unthanked. I'm sure most people haven't given them a thought. Who knew they spent time underground in tunnels before, during and after nuclear bombs were set off. My Dad spent many overtimes hours where no human should have been. 77 years of age, truly is young. How many others have suffered and gone unrealized?
The government has spent billions deciding 40 years later what the degree of exposure was???? Yet the money is already there to compensate the exposed NTS workers, will they ever see it? Do you know about it?? If you or someone you know worked at Nevada Test Site during the 1959-62ish years, contact Senator Reids office and file for compensation. You are the unsung heroes, thanks you for truly giving your all!!
