About the Conantum neigborhood:
Conantum, properly knows as the Kalmia Woods Corporation, is a small neighborhood in the southeast corner of Concord. One hundred and four houses were built in the early 1950's on old farmland along the Sudbury River. The neighborhood was started by graduate students and young faculty families from MIT and Harvard looking for homes in the suburbs.
The most distinguishing characteristics of Conantum was the preservation of large sections of undeveloped land as "Common Land". The 104 households of Conantum hold over 40 acres in common. There are two pieces of Common Land: the larger includes a wooded esker with hiking trails, extensive wetlands and the "Ball Field" with its open meadow and community gardens: the other piece runs along the Sudbury River and provides access for neighborhood canoes, three exclusive tennis courts, basketball court, and a favorite trail to a river outlook. 2010 annual membership $210.

This Concord, MA home is located is the award winning Green School, Willard Elementary district and White's Pond. As a green school, Willard is infused with natural light, state-of-the-art high efficiency heating and cooling system and many recycled materials were used throughout the building this new school. White's Pond is a private family beach facility, offering swim lessons.
