We have to honestly admit ...when we see that little gold " feature "star on our blogs we silently admit " great ... well worth the effort."...but wait...now we take on the task of responding to all the comments..thanking them for the visit and their thoughts...Isn't it the thoughtful thing to do?
It is a challenging task, yet I tell myself " they were kind enough to visit, now I need to respond to their comment." but how? Usually on a feature you can expect over 100 comments. Your mind is in a whirlwind. How can I keep track of the comments I have responded to and the ones I have missed?
Then I ask myself "after commenting does the commenter ever go back to the blog to see if the blogger has responded to their opinion? If they don't...responding would be fruitless. A waste of time.
My last feature drew 90 comments. I really don't want to miss responding to the contributors who felt the blog worthy of a comment and most importantly I don't want to pick and choose...like saying ..I will return some phone calls but not others.
- How do you feel when you leave a comment and it draws no response from the blogger?
- Do you ever check back to even see if there is a response?
- Do you comment , then move on or enjoy the return dialog?
After spending tons of time and thought responding to comments...I often tell myself....Is this worth it?
I enjoy responding back to comments but wonder if the response is ever noticed.
Some bloggers respond...some do not...some pick and choose......Just what is your opinion?
